What is the secret to be successful? Some people believe that hard work is
fundamental for achieving objectives and it is considered as the most important
personal characteristic. In contrast, there are those who say that nobody achieves
anything without ambition or charisma. Personal characteristics can be directly related
to a successful life and they can complement each other. In fact there are some
arguments that show why hard work is the foundation to build a good career.

Firstly, hardworking people are persistent and show more results. They give the best of
themselves and they are completely engaged in their jobs so they tend not to be late or
miss a day of work. Secondly, they earn admiration and respect of their bosses and
co-workers. Often they are viewed as examples to be followed by their motivation and
their responsibility, inspiring people and contributing to the company's success and
development. Thirdly, they are recognized by their work and they can have more
opportunities to be successful faster.

On the other hand, some people trust that the most important characteristic to be
successful is ambition. Ambition is important to leave the comfort zone and try to get
something better. At the same time, ambitious people can be selfish - building their
careers, running over other people and not caring about the consequences. They can
cause some problems for the company using illegal methods to benefit themselves and
create an unhealthy work environment for their co-workers. Other people believe in
charisma how the key of a successful life, but even as ambition, charisma has some
negative aspects. Charismatic people have the power to influence their co-workers
both for good and for evil. They are self-confident and friendly, but beyond to their
adorable faces, they can be arrogant, not accepting criticism and thinking they are
superior to the others.

As has been noted, the personal characteristic that really contributes to building a solid
and successful career is hard work. In contrast, ambition and charisma have their dark
sides and those could be harmful. As shown above, ambitious and charismatic people
build a world of appearances that can be easily dissolved without hard work.
