Abstract

The utilization of eco-friendly and the high economic value of alternative energy,
nowadays, began bustling developed. One of them is thermoelectric generator.
Thermoelectric generator has high economic value and does not cause polution,
so it is eco-friendly. The basic principle of the thermoelectrically generator is
utilize the temperature differences that occured in the environment into electrical
energy. This study used several peltier that were arranged in series and parallel
of the engine rotation in range 900 RPM to 2400 RPM which is aimed to
determine the electrical energy that can be generated from differences of
temperature on heat exhausted energy from the vessel's main engine as the result
of combustion. The result of the study showed that one peltier can produce
maximum power in condition that the output of exhausted gas from the engine at
the 2400 RPM engine speed is 90.04 watts with 39C temperature differences.
From 8 peltiers that connected in series and parallel by using copper heatsink on
the heat side faced aluminium heatsink on cold side have 90.04 watt power and
70.98 watt greater than peltier arrangement in parallel and series that used
extends heatsink 83,66Watt and 61,95Watt at the same engine speed condition. It
shows that the synchronization between differences of temperature occurs on both
sides of peltier with electrical power that generated in the peltier.
