CALL FOR RESEARCH ORAL PRESENTATION

The Committee on Research and Publication is now accepting research papers for oral/poster presentations during
the Regional Research Forum 2017.

Submit thru e-mail a one-paragraph abstract of 200 250 words with a research title containing the main
objective, methodology, results and major conclusions of the study to geromil_lara@spcdavao.edu.ph on or
before March 8, 2017.

Full copy of accepted researches must be submitted to the Committee on Research and Publication. It should be
written in the publishable format (journal style) having the following sections: ABSTRACT, KEYWORDS,
INTRODUCTION, OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY, MATERIALS AND METHODS, RESULTS & DISCUSSION, CONCLUSIONS
and LITERATURE CITED. Sub-sections under each section are allowed. Tables and figures can be added accordingly.
The full paper should not exceed 15 printed pages of short size bond paper.

The entry paper should be encoded in MS Word Format, Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 spacing, 1 inch
margin on all sides, short size bond paper.

FRAMEWORK FOR ORAL RESEARCH PRESENTATION


1. Mastery. The 15-minute performance must be prepared to the point of mastery, precise, information- intensive
and high impact.

2. Speech Organization. A scientific paper has to be translated in style from print to oral communication. The
Research and Publication Committee have prescribed speech organization in the quality assurance for PowerPoint
presentations. The speech has the following sections:

1. Introduction of your lecture. Title, compelling reasons why you conducted the study, objectives, framework,
theoretical underpinnings.
2. Your methods. Describe your methods.
3. Your Discovery (results and discussion). Briefly answer each study objective, supported by data/evidence, author
citation to show similarities or differences, meaning and implication.
4. Your judgment (conclusions) on your findings that the world scientific community represented by those in your
audience needs to remember. This is your contribution to new knowledge.
5. Your recommendations. (Optional). Only when you recommend something that has application or relevance to a
wider audience.
6. Impact/ outcomes of the study Show the bibliographic entry of your paper if it has been published already; the
laws, ordinances, policies that were triggered by your study; new systems and processes generated as a result of
your study; utilization of study by stakeholders, inclusion of your study in the course syllabus.
7. Insights and personal journey What did you learn from the conduct of the study that has moved or affected
you? Your personal equity and sacrifices for the completion of the study? We find this part very important to
connect to your audience.
8. Your closing statement to end your talk -Appreciate the audience.

3. Time Precisions and Visual: The speech is finished in 15 minutes, visuals reinforce ideas.
