A Secure Voting System using Fingerprint with Raspberry Pi

1.1 Background of study

The computerized voting data system, which incorporates intends to automatically check,
gather and trade voting information and data, envelops organized equipment segments
and appropriated programming programs and will be utilized by an assortment of voting
elements regarding the way toward confirming voters, deciding the qualification of
voters, aggregating and classifying the threw votes, and giving a safe operations plan to
the voting system. A unique mark is the easily taking after example shaped by edges and
valleys on the tip of a finger. Recognizable proof of individuals in view of their
fingerprints has a long history and it is the most common innovation in programmed
confirmation and ID system. The product application and the equipment execution enable
the system to peruse the information from the Finger print confirm the information with
the as of now put away information and make the following move. The system is
completely outlined utilizing Fingerprint module and installed frameworks innovation.

1.2 Problem Statement

The main issue that lead the invention of fingerprint voting system where voter
verification is something that is lacking in current voting methods at polling stations and
via post due to there being no identification checks at polling stations and with the ability
of malicious individuals to steal and forge postal votes. While the security is concern in
this project, the problem related to accessibility of the system, the voter need to come to
vote at the place that registered their name such as in PRU in Malaysia, the voter need to
go at the placed that their register only otherwise they need to post they vote thru courier
service which is not secure and high possibilities missing vote.

1.3 Objective

The main objective of this project is to design a framework that requests that the client
demonstrate their Fingerprint as a character evidence. The system peruses the information
from the Finger print and confirms this information with the as of now put away
information in its database. if the details present in the data base it matches with the
stored data, the system allows the person to enter into and poll his vote. else if the details
of the Finger do not match with the stored data, the system immediately activates the
display and the security authorities can come and take the further action. This project is a
device that gathers information from the tag and codes the information into an
arrangement that can be comprehended by the controlling area. This system likewise
gathers data from the ace device and actualizes charges that are coordinated by the ace.
The goal of the venture is to build up a fingerprint based security with raspberry pi voting
system.

1.4 Scope of study

The scope of the project is to invent a web based voting system. The system works with
raspberry pi and fingerprint scanner to gather data from the voter, many researchers have
combined multiple biometrics (e.g., fingerprint and face) to improve the overall system
performance (Bigun et al., 1997; Kittler et al., 1998; Jain et al., 1998, 1999a), but this
involves the additional cost of sensors and inconvenience to the user in providing
multiple cues. The data will be match with the data that already registered in the system
using fingerprint. This system is to provide the secure voting process instead of manual
voting system which include many possibilities of error voting, unknown voter and
biased voted.

The intended purpose of the invention is to help solve several problems that are
experienced by our society with respect to the voting process: low attendance rates,
increasing administrative & operations costs, time consuming tabulation tasks,
inconvenience for voters, lost time from work, rigid voting guidelines, and inadequate
security protection. This invention provides solutions to these problems while automating
the operational tasks that are associated with the voting process, streamlining the
activities of certifying all voters, and making the same and most updated data and
information available to all voting entities and related representatives in a real-time
manner, whenever requested and/or any voting activity was performed with respect to
that data and information.
