Passion Project Title

Project Overview (What is the project about give a description what will
happen the process of the project):
For this passion project, write a poem about black empowerment. Focusing on
the positives of black empowerment is important during this process, if too
many negatives are included it could confuse the reader/listener of the
message that you are trying to convey. A tangible object is also required,
make sure it follows the theme of the poem. A recurring phrase would be a
good thing to represent to help reinforce a strong point in the poem.

Project Duration
The performance is on June 14th which allows 8 days to make your poem, short
story, play, etc. and a tangible object to further express your passion.

Essential Questions (Main things you want to answer during this project):
- What is the empowerment of black men/women?
- How do you empower black people?

Objectives (What are you getting out of this project? What is the goal?):
Students should hope to accept and understand what it is like to be black
(struggles, advantages, fears, hopes, etc.) Students should do a lot of
research. Some things to look for are prejudice and historical events, this
will help put emotion, conviction and empathy into your poem.

Tips to get started!

Starting with your inspiration/first idea can be good for a rough draft and
to get ideas going. For example, lets say youre writing a poem about
colors, your first draft could look like this: Colors. Red. Blue. Orange.
Yellow So on and so forth. Then you can build on that idea slowly so your
second draft could look something like this: Colors are everywhere. Red
t-shirt. Blue sky. Orange sunset. Yellow school bus. Then go from there,
adding a plot, a theme and a tone.
