Culture is a defining role in the reality of a place.

Culture is often unique to a particular location, defined

by the mix of identities that live or pass through it.

The key defining part of a culture is religion, which sets a boundary with which it is moulded and
matured.

Society's way of life, shaped by its religious ideals, often time shown in everyday realities. In Arab
countries for example it is customary to avoid liquor or alcohol because of the precepts of Islam - the
dominant religion of the area. The way culture shapes reality in Arabian countries is evidenced by the
fact that in the Middle East, the cultural facet of Arabian life has had such an effect on the reality of the
area that alcohol has been completely banned. Arab men, compared to their counterparts in Asia and in
the West, would not be found in bars/clubs. Alternatively, the natural addiction found in humans has
been met with hashish and shisha.

Fundamentally, all followers of Islam abstain from liquor or alcohol. In this, the ideals of a culture is a
reality.

However, as religion is founded on ideals, its impact on culture can also be more of an idea. Wealthy
families who live/work abroad and children are educated in other countries, a majority of them can be
found among their foreign counterparts and participate in the consumption of alcohol. In this sense, the
ideals of a culture deviates from reality.

To conclude, it can be said that reality is moulded by culture, defined and shaped by the notions of
ideals and beliefs, but reality in itself is moulded through the complexity and of the growth of beliefs
and thoughts by society. Culture therefor, is an evolving reality defined by the thoughts and notions of
the society with which it is identified
