Greenhouse Effect & Gas

The greenhouse effect is the natural process by which the atmosphere traps some
of the sun's energy, warming the earth to support life. Greenhouses gases are
increasing the effect artificially. The earth's temperature is rising, which is
damaging the ozone layer and exposing the Earth to ultraviolet rays from the sun.
Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas and is emitted by fossil fuels, deforestation,
landfill sites, etc. 82% of the U.S. greenhouse gas emissions in 2015 was carbon
dioxide. Greenhouse gases is what causes climate change.
Climate Change
Winters are shorter Increased permafrost, may lead to
Water temperature is higher infrastructure of roads & homes
Land is eroding away More droughts & heat waves
Ponds and lakes drying up Hurricanes will become stronger and
Villages forced to be relocated as sea more intense
level goes up Insect outbreaks
Weather patterns have become more Increase in wildfire number
unpredictable Increased risk of species extinction
Animal patterns disorientated, will Loss of wetlands through coastal
migrate up in elevation erosion
ETC.
Hydrocarbons In the geological pathway very rich organic
sediments were deposited and these deposits formed pockets of hydrocarbons.
hydrocarbons are organic compounds that contain only carbon and hydrogen. The
hydrocarbons found in sediments are fossil fuels such as natural gas. The hydrocarbon
methane is the chief component of natural gas.

Combustion Reaction
Combustion is a chemical reaction that produces heat and light, most forms of
combustion happen when the gas oxygen joins with another substance. The most
common form of combustion is fire. When wood burns, oxygen in the air joins with
carbon in wood.
