Training design for Civil Engineer

Need Analysis conclusion:

There is a need to train the engineers with necessary knowledge and skills to help them operate
the Habitech Building System Technology. All these knowledge and skills needs to be
transferable, meaning, the training should also make them capable to further train other
employees about the technology.

Organizational Constraints
There are few organizational constraints faced while planning for the training.
The first constraint is that the employees might not serve the organization long enough. If that
is the case, then there is not much benefit of the training in the long run. The risk this case
poses are high incurring of expenses related to training without return.
Other constraint includes limited amount of fund in the organization. The costly training on
human resources might not seem feasible for Creative.

Budget for Training

The training is provided by Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) free of cost. However, there are
other cost involved such as travelling, accommodation and food expenses for the duration of
the training i.e. 2 weeks.
Past records of Creative related to the training phase shows that the training incurs about Nrs
3,00,000 per person

Training
The training module provided by the AIT includes lecture and simulations. The lecture includes
information on brick introductions, tools and equipments to be used and preparation process
for the project. Practical simulation is the done to further retain the training knowledge.
Technical Q/A is done as well to remove any mistakes or misconception on how to operate the
system.
The training module is as follows:

1. Introduction:
Orientation on the Habitech Technology
About the bricks and material used

2. Formation of Bricks:
Techniques for Material Preparation
Quality Test
Interpret basic drawing
3. Machine:
Orientation of the machine
How to install the machine
Safety measures to operate the machine

4. Construction with the bricks at different levels:

Starter Bar
First Layer
U Brick Layer
Door/Window Opening
Conduit (Plumbing & Electrical)
Switch & Sockets
Types of Columns
Overhang Beam
Curve Brick Wall
Touch up
Fixing broken bricks
Finishing

5. Constructing a house with the inter-locking bricks

6. Interaction and Question/Answer Session about the building techniques

7. Training on production of high quality brick production

The above training includes from basic introduction, preparation, operation of machine to
construction phase. The training program is detailed and can help learn effectively according to
the needs analysis. The training program can be transferable to other employees to some extent
as well ensuring easier transfer of skills.
The training is based on sequential learning with use of audio and visuals, which helps the
trainees to learn thoroughly about the technology.

As there as two trainees, they can also work together to learn even more effectively by helping
each other out in cases where one finds it difficult to grasp the information.
As the training is sequential, it allows the engineers to understand the overall workarounds of
the technology which can be helpful to tackle different situations.

For instance: The trainee can understand what kind of construction /architecture the best for
the climate surrounding the environment with the given materials so that the house completes
the needs of the customer. The level of understanding by the trainee is possible through the
effective training where lecture and simulation has been used.

The training based on sequential format from progression learning, starting from basic to
advance and use of simulation and practice periods. The training need of Creative can be
fulfilled by the proposed training.
