Mental Capacity Act

Prerequisites:

Ref Course Prerequisites delegates must have the following:


MCA1 An Introduction to the Mental Capacity Act Aimed at Health and Social Care Workforce including frontline care staff
No previous training required. Beginners course to the Mental Capacity Act, if new to this
topic then this course is for you.
MCA2 Working with the Mental Capacity Act Aimed at Health and Social Care Workforce including frontline care staff
Delegates to either have already completed the MCA1 An Introduction to the Mental
Capacity Act training or have good basic knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and
need to know how to apply it to your work.
MCA3 Working with the Mental Capacity Act Aimed at:
(Building Good Practice) Managers and Team Leaders from Care Providers
Those undertaking complex Mental Capacity Assessments as part of their role.
Delegates to have already completed the MCA2 Working with the Mental Capacity Act or
similar
MCA4 Mental Capacity Act Complex Decision Aimed at Managers and experienced practitioners who manage either undertake
Making complex mental capacity assessments of manage those who do.

MCA5 Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (Care Aimed at Managers of Care Homes or Hospital wards/Units (Managing Authorities)
Homes and Hospitals)
MCA6 BRAND NEW COURSE Deprivation of Aimed at Managers of Supported Living/Tenancy Schemes where Community DoL may
Liberty in the Community apply.
MCA7 Train the Trainer Introduction to the Mental Delegates must have a good (basic) working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and
Capacity Act how it applies in your own setting.
To have completed Mental Capacity Awareness or MCA1 An Introduction to the Mental
Capacity Act training AND the York Safeguarding Adults General Awareness Course all
in the past 18 months.
Have experience of dealing with mental capacity issues within my setting.
