Since our AGM in January 2017 it has been full steam

ahead for Steelwings Kimberley. The AGM was well
attended by members and during this AGM the new
Committee for 2017 was elected.

But the Kimberley Steelwings dont waste much time,

and 2 weeks later the bikes were washed and packed
and ready to roll to the Route 62 rally in Montagu.
Our Many members had not yet stayed over in Prince
Albert, and we LOVE new places. En route we stopped
for breakfast at Kambro-padstal, visited under the new
lapa for a great meal!

No time was wasted getting onto the bikes and doing

the first official outride for the year the last Saturday
of January to Piet se Gat, Petrusburg.

Van daar n stop by die 4 Sheep in Beaufort West waar

ons NET betyds gestop het voor n hengse storm. Ons
hoor toe later daar was n wolkbreuk agter ons in Vic
West omtrent verspoelings. En die wind het gewaai
soontoe sommer die covers van sakke afgewaai so
blerrie ver dat ons sweeper dit nooit kon kry nie!!! Maar
nou toe ons is toe vort na ons eerste nagstop Prince
Albert Hotel.

n Hele groot groep het weggetrek vanaf Ranch motors

vir n lekker pub lunch. Altyd n wenner vir ons
Kimberley klomp!En so het die wiele gesing tot in
Petrusburg en die kuier was voorwaar lekker.

Dit was warm, baie warm! Maar gelukkig was daar

genoeg koue verversings, en n heerlike swembad om in
af te koel.

Volgende oggend is ons voort bietjie koeler vir ons

eerste stop sommer daar in Meiringspoort. Dit bly altyd
n wenner, daardie stop. Net jammer niemand het kans
gesien vir die swem nie! En dis nie aldag wat n mens
langs die pad stop en die tequila word sommer op n
skinkbord bedien nie. Met suurlemoen en sout. En n Die lekkerste eetgoedjies gepak in pieniekmandjies, en
baie vriendelike barman!! ons eet (en drink!) net dit waarvoor ons lus is op die
boot.

is the perfect place for a pool party to start the rally off! Saterdagaand hou ons n braai, wind en al!
Good music, good friends plus great place = good times!

Instead of the outride it was decided to rent a bus

(thanks, Wilhelm!) and do some wine tasting and a trip
down the river and what an awesome experience that
was. Elkeen van ons kon toe die dag terdee geniet,
sonder om matigheid voor o te moet hou. Wow!
And before we knew it, the weekend was over and it
was time to take the long road home. Our stopover was
at the Travalia guest farm fantastic braai was organized
for us and we sat around the camp fire telling jokes
(Moemfie!) and other stories.

The Committee were becoming a little concerned that
the monthly meetings attendance figures have declined
lately, and decided to try something new. Every quarter,
the Social club organizes a get together for us, and we
decided to try and incorporate the monthly meeting
with this Social. And boy, was THAT a success. Not only
does is allow our members from out of town to attend
meetings, it also makes for less dates in our calendars,
which leaves us more time to ride!

We all arrived home safe and sound, without even a Niemand het enige ide gehad waaroor dit gaan nie, en
slight hitch. ons word toe in spanne ingedeel.

Next outride was to the Borrelskop bar for a few

drinks and a brunch, and another great kuier and ride
for us all!

Ek kan nou nie eintlik onthou wie gewen het nie, want
daar was bietjie verwarring met oorywerige spanne,
maar kom ons s maar vir die pienk span geluk.

It was great to have the Swans

with us again! Long time no
see!

Our sunsets were just the most

Four members, Wilhelm, Florence, Hennie and Christine fantastic to watch. Sundowners
have had their eye on the Skeleton Coast Rally for every night.
a while now, after missing the cut off date in 2015. This
rally in Swakopmund happens every 2 years, but boy, is
it worth the wait!.

Our last official stop on our way home freezing cold

after some serious heat in the desert. Hot cappuccinos
and milk tart at Proviand in Griekwastad to give us the
energy for the last lap home.

And this is what riding is all about. The open spaces and
the freedom to ride, and boy, did we ride! Over 3800km
on this trip, over 9 days. Pure joy, I tell you, pure joy!
The roads were good, the places we stayed were
phenomenal and the Rally itself was extremely well
organized.

While some were gallivanting out of the country other
Kimberley Steelwingers were representing the club at
the CANSA run to Petrusburg.

First stop was the Phoenix in Fauresmith. Ietsie lekker

warms ingeneem om te help met die koue. Ons maak
ons merk teen die muur vir ander om volgende keer
weer te sien! Gaan kyk gerus as jul daar verby ry!

Potjie kos spectacular for lunch. Well worth the ride!

En daar gaan hulle weer pub crawling to Norvalspont!

Steelwings Kimberley has at least 1 sleepover each year

and this year it was to the Gariep Dam. We stayed
over at the De Stijl Hotel, and what a pleasant surprise
we all had. The trip there was great the roads good
(most of the time!!!) and we had some great stops along
the way.

Nou ja ons was dit almal eens dat hierdie De Stijl Hotel
nou regtig waarde vir geld was ons het heerlik gekuier,
lekker geeet en warm geslaap.

En vir almal van julle wat dit nie kon maak na Gariep toe
nie doen julself n guns en maak n plan om soontoe te

gaan. There are more than a few of us that wont let the

weekend! En weet julle wat??? Daar is pies en koffie ook te koop
op pad huistoe! En dit is heeeeerlik!

Die jongspan trotseer die koue en kuier buite, terwyl

die wysemense binne bly.

Die plek se naam is Waterwielbakhuis. Quaint.

Malan het vir ons die heerlikste vleis gaar gemaak

terwyl die jongspan hom geselskap hou.
