Construction process

First a frame is constructed from structural steel members over the central core then only
start once the foundations are in place and the wall starter is in correct alignment. Steel formwork
panels are hung from this frame, some supported on rollers. Then, slip form shuttering is aligned
with the help of yokes. Next, the Horizontal crossbeams will connect these yokes. Then, hydraulic
jacks are attached to these crossbeams for simultaneous upward movement. The Height of the slip
from ranges from 1.1 to 1.5 meters. Yokes and crossbeams also used to support the Working
platform. Structure should be rigid and shape maintained at all times. Make sure there is no lag or
else it prevents the structure from free upward movement. It is also possible to reduce wall
thicknesses as the construction gains height and arrangements have to be made in the slip form
structure that will enable such reduction at regular intervals. Once the climbing formwork is in
position, the formwork panels are closed and the next concrete wall is poured. After the concrete
are poured, the formwork is released and rolled back from the concrete face. Jacks then lift or climb
the whole frame up one level. All the formwork panels are attached to the frame. This process takes
approximately one and a half hours. The cycle continues, which is normally four days. Faster times
have been achieved. However, the limiting factor to faster times is usually the construction of the
floor slabs, which are done as a separate process.
