d. Iron Ore Terminal of 12 MTPA


KPL signed a License Agreement for an iron ore terminal on a 30 years
BOT basis in September 2006 with the project company SICAL Iron ore
Terminal Limited. The BOT operator developed the first phase to the
capacity of 6 MTPA. The terminal development works are completed.
Due to ban on export of Iron ore, the terminal is not operational now.
However KPL is in the process of conversion of this iron ore terminal
into one more Common user coal terminal.

e. General Cargo Berth cum Automobile Export Terminal


Kamarajar Port has set up a berth for car exports and for other general
cargo, at a cost of Rs.140 crore. This berth will be able to accommodate
the car carriers with capacity of 8,000 cars. Further, it has a back-up
area of about 141000 sq. m. with a car parking yard for 10000 cars
which is the largest facility in any Indian Port. Port is in the process of
developing additional car parking yard of area 58500 sq. m.

2.6 Port Expansion Proposals:

To meet the growing demand in the hinterland and trade, Kamarajar Port
has initiated actions for developing the following terminals through
BOT/Captive basis.
