Paige (5:00 P.M- Home)

I will be observing Paige who is a two-month old infant. Her name is Paige Hernandez. I

will be conducting the first observation in her home. It is an apartment in Los Angeles, Paige and

her Mom are alone in the house. Paige is laying down in the bassinet which is on the living room,

her mom is at the kitchen washing dishes.

Paige is stretching her arms and legs in the bassinet, and she is moving her head from one

side to the another. Mom your daddy is almost here baby, are you exited, you like it when daddy

comes home, yes you do. Paige tracks the voice of her mom with her eyes. She looks towards the

direction in which her mom is standing. Paige flaps her arms in short distance a couple of times.

She kicks her legs up in the air and holds them in that position for a few second, and then she puts

them down as she is kicking. Paiges mom picks her up from the bassinet and lays her on her

shoulder. Paige lays her head on her moms shoulder and stays still for a few minutes. As she is

laying down she brings her right hand to her mouth and starts sucking on it. A few minutes have

pass and there is a knock on the door. The sounds grabs Paiges attention. She stops sucking on

her hand and picks up her head, but she puts it back down right away, her eyes are looking at the

door. The mom opens the door, and welcomes dad in. Dad grabs Paige and holds her against his

chest. Paige puts her head back and looks at her dad. She is not moving nor flapping her arms or

legs, she is staring at her dad. She continues looking at her dad, her body is calm, her eyes track

her dads face. Dad put lays Paige down on the sofa. Paige stretches her whole body and yawns.

She is left alone for a few minutes while dad washes his hands and changes her cloth. Paige is

looking around and moving her head from one side to another. Her dad comes back. How was

your day? Did you have fun with mommy? Paige stops moving her body and stares at her dad.

Her dad continues You did have fun, what did you do today, did you go the market? Paige frowns

and moves her hands towards her face. Dad oh no you did not like the market, why not? Paige

is looking at her dad as she continues to move her body. Dad well I am happy to see you, I miss

you. Paige frowns again and this time she cries. Her dad picks her up and lays her on his shoulder.

Paige continues to cry. She stops to cry and starts to move her head up and down with her mouth

open. She repeats the same movement a couple of time, until she starts to cry again. Mom Here,

here no more crying daddy will give you milk right now. The dad gives Paige the bottle. He is

holding the bottle as he rocks Paige back and forth as he is talking to his wife. Paige continues to

eat until she falls asleep. Dad lays her down on her bassinet.

Paige (10:00 A.M- Home)

This is the second Observation I will be conducting in Paiges home. Paige and her mom

just finish coming back from a walk. Her mom is cleaning the house. Paige is laying on her

bassinet, which is playing children music.

Paige is laying down on the Sofa. She is moving her arms in different directions, as well

as her feet. She turns her head from one side to another. She is sticking her in and out. Her mom

passes by to get the broom and Paige tracks her. Paige feels her toy next to her and stops moving.

She turns her head to the left and stares at the toy. As she continues to move her arms around the

toy ends up falling on top of Paiges face. She stops moving for a few seconds and she then tries

to put her lips on the toy but the toy moves in a different direction. She starts moving her arms

and legs more rapidly than she was before, shortly after she begins to cry. Her mom rushes to the

sofa and picks up Paige and puts her against her chest. Her mother starts to move her body from

side to side, and Paige stops crying. Mom oh no does someone need a diaper change? I think

you do little princess. Paige looks at her mom the whole time she is talking to her. Lets get a

new diaper, and wipes to clean you up. The mom lays Paige on the couch and she take off her

cloth. Paiges eyes are wide open looking at her mom. Oh no you a stinky princess, yes you are

a stinky princess. Paige smiles as she kicks her legs and looks at her mom. The mom continues

talking to Paige. Ok lets clean your butt, and you are going to feel nice and fresh. Oh we

should shower you instead, what do you say? Paige flaps her arms, and smiles. Mom puts Paige

in the bassinet and takes the bassinet to the kitchen. Paige is looking around with her eyes wide

open. Her mom turns on the water, the noise grabs Paiges attention. After the bath mom seats on

a rocking chair with Paige. She is holding Paige on her arms. Paige starts to move her head back

and forward with her mouth open against her moms breast. Her mom unbuttons her shirt and

Paige begins to eat. Paiges mom singing to her as she eats. She continues singing until Paige

falls asleep.

Mason (9:00 A.M- My Gym)

I will be observing Mason who is a fourteen mouth old. I will be conducting my first

observation in one of his classes called mommy and me. This class takes place at my gym in

Pasadena. There are a lot of large toys for children to play with. Masons mom is seating on the

waiting area. Mason is sitting on a chair by himself.

Mason and his mom are waiting for class to start. He is seating on a small chair thats on

the waiting area. He stands and he moves the chair to the right. He seats on the chair and he

stands up again. He pulls the chair to the right one more time. He looks at his mom and he claps.

His mom tells him no with her hand. Mason seats on the chair and he claps again. The teacher

opens the gate and Mason runs in the gym. He goes for the red ball at the far end of the gym. He

grabs the ball and he drops it. He bends down picks up the ball with his right hand and he drops

the ball again. All the children are seating down with their mom singing. Mason Mom Come on

mason look we are singing mason, come seat with mami. Mason keeps on picking up the ball

and dropping them. He drops the ball one last time and he walks towards the swings. Masons

mom runs after Mason and brings him to the carpet by the hand. He follows his mom with no

problem. It is free choice and mason runs to the tunnel. Mason unnel, unnel. Mason goes in the

tunnel, but he does not come on through the other side. Mom come on Mason your friends want

a turn. Mason does not move. Mom Mason lets go they need a turn. Mason lays down as his

mom is talking to him. His mom goes in the tunnel and she pulls mason out of the tunnel. Once

Mason was out of the tunnel he run to the foam blocks. He stared stacking them and he would

push the block down. Every time the blocks would fall he would clap. A boy goes toward the

blocks, and he grabs a red one. Mason looks at the boy. The boy walks away with the red block.

Mason starts to cry loudly. Mom Its ok look we have more blocks look His mom shakes the

yellow and orange block in front of his face. Mason continues to cry and pushes his moms

blocks away from his face. Mason points at the boy as he keeps on crying. Masons mom gets up

from the floor, picks mason up and she takes him to the waiting area. As she is walking mason is

flapping his arms around, kicking, crying and screaming. Once in the car Mason continue to cry.

Mom you want Macdonalds? Mason nonas Mom yes Macdonalds. Masons crying slows

down. At Macdonalds Mason grabs his moms fries and he eats two of them. He grabs one

more and he drops it. He claps. He grabs another one and he drops it. Mom No Mason No dont

do that. Mason starts to cry. His mom picks him up and lays him on her shoulder. She starts

rocking Mason from side to side until he falls asleep.

Mason (4:00 P.M- Park)

I will be observing Mason at the park near his house. His mom brings him often to this

park when she gets out of work. Mason is at the swing set, and his mom is pushing him. There

are many kids in the park of different ages.

Mason is at the swing set, his mom is pushing him. He is smiling and he is kicking his

feet when the swing reaches its highest point. Mason points at the slide as he says Mami

Mami. Masons mom gets Masons down from the swing and mason walks to the slide. As he

is walking over to the slide an older kid bumps Mason and he falls to the floor. Mason looks up

but the older child is gone. He puts his hands on the ground and pushes of the floor to stand on

his feet. He looks at his hands and he shakes them. He looks back, but his mom is not near him,

she is seating on the bench. He continues to walk to the slide. Once at the slide he stops and he

looks at it. He finds the steps. He lays on his stomach on the first step and he pulls his body up.

He repeats the same movement for the next three steps. Once he reaches the slide he claps his

hands. He seats down and he slides. Mason falls at the end of the slide. Masons starts to cry and

he looks around. He sees his mom and he walks to her. His mom walks to a grassy area and

mason follows her s he rubs his eyes. His mom takes out a blanket and lays it on the floor.

Mason seats on the blanket and he stretches his hand toward his mom. His mom takes out a

candy from her bag. Mason seats calmly and east his lollypop. Mason points at his mom wallet

and say uh uh uh. His mom takes out a tablet, she puts a kids videos. Mason watches the

videos, laying down, as his mom seats and watches her phone.

Mia (10:00 A.M- Daycare)

Mia is a twenty-four-year-old toddler. I will be observing her in her daycare. They are

about to start circle time; Mia is seating down in the middle of her 24 other classmates.

Mia is seating down on the carpet as the rest of her peers are settling down. Mia gets up

and she walks to the water dispenser. She puts up her one foot on the stepping stool. She then

grabs on to the water dispenser and she puts the other floor on top of the stool. She pushes the

large bottom on the right side and water come comes out of the dispenser. The water hits Mia on

the face. She puts her head back and then she leans in to drink water. Teacher Mia you need to

seat down, here seat down on the dog. Mia looks down at the carpet and she walks to wars the

drawing of the dog. She finds her space and she seats down. The teacher starts to go over the

days of the week. Mia repeats Monday Tuesday endsey. Mia gets distracted by a peer that

stand up and starts to walk around. The teacher starts to sign the days of the week and that grabs

Mias attention. At small group Mia seats on the spot that has her name tag on it. She hugs her

peers who is seating next to her. They both start to laugh. Teacher tells the students to draw their

dads. Mia grabs a purple crayon, she holds it with her right hand, and starts to color. She draws

circles, and lines all over the paper. Mia done teater me done. Teacher you did great Mia you

could go to the rug and play with a toy. Mia goes to the carpet and grabs the baby doll. She

carries the baby doll. Mia baby shh shh shh baby. Mia covers the doll with a blanket and she

puts the baby on top of a pillow. She grabs a bottle and give it the baby, eat Mia says to the

doll. The door opens and Mia sees her Mom. Mia Mamma! she runs to her mom and hugs her.

Mia says Bye to the teachers and her peers.

Mia (2:00 P.M Home/Pool)

This would be my Second observation of Mia. This observation will be taking place in

Mias home. Mia and her mom are getting ready to go in the pool that they have in the backyard.

Mia had her bathing suit on. She is waiting for her mom to take her out to the backyard in

order to go in the pool. Mia is seating down on the living room, she is putting her wooden blocks

in a box. When the box is full of blocks she walks to the opposite side were her baby doll is at.

She grabs the baby doll and puts her in a stroller. Mai says lets go and she pushes the stroller

around the living room. She grabs a bag she finds on the floor and she puts it on her shoulder.

She continues pushing the stroller until she gets the chair by the kitchen. At the kitchen she takes

she baby out of the stroller and she puts the baby doll on the wooden chair. She grabs her toy

spoon and puts it in front of the bay doll. She then pretends to feed the baby. Mom Mia you

ready Mia Yes pool Mia says with excitement.

Mia grabs her baby doll and walk toward her mom. Her mom starts to walk to the pool

Mia follows behind her. At the pool she through the doll in the pool Mia my baby Swimming

my baby. Mias mom jumps in the pools Mia claps her hands and jumps up and down with a

smile on her face. Mom ok Mia am ready jump Mia jump. Mia jumps in the pool and her

mom catches her. Mia hold on to her mom once in the pool. She splashes the water and she even

drinks some water. Mia is throwing a ball and her mom helps her get it. Mom puts Mia in a

floaty and she throws the ball at Mia. Mia does not catch the ball. The mom gives Mia the ball on

her hand and Mia is able to through the ball. After a few minutes Mia starts to kick and splash

the water around.
