central amendment bill to
make registration of marria-
ges, just like births and de-
aths, compulsory, the Law
Commission has suggested
linking marriage registra-
tion with Aadhaar numbers
to prevent fraudulent marri-
ages and denial of subsisten-
ce to deserted women.
The commission, headed
by retired Supreme Court

Grants Commission (UGC)
has stated that only univer-
sities can offer distance lear-
ning programmes in India.
With the earlier decision of
the Distance Education Co-
