REFLECTION AND SELF EVALUATION

MDD Standard

The teacher candidate identifies the main things learned in this practicum and ways
in which this learning has informed their professional development needs, reflecting on
the meaning, values, and purposes that will orient his or her professional life.

4.1 Reflect on the main things you have learned about teaching and how these relate
to your understanding of the profession and the values that guide your work.

During the teaching experience of this year I have learned How to manage a class.
Class management is helpful for a teacher due to the fact that he/she can control what
is happening inside the classroom. Furthermore, I have also learned about timing. This
is helpful to plan and also to know how much time should be spended in every step of
a lesson, always considering the classroom reality. Moreover, I have learned that not
all activities are successful with all students. All students have different abilities, and
also the level of proficiency of the students varies from class to class, so it is important
to choose activities according to the students context. Finally, I have learned that
when you are a good teacher, students can improve their marks and if you make them
feel comfortable inside the classroom they are going to be willing to participate and
ask every time that they do not understand.

4.2 Describe one or two areas of professional growth (e.g. instructional strategies,
content knowledge).

Content knowledge

In order to teach, I had to study the content that I should be covering during the
semester. This helped me to review the content, and also to understand better some
topics.

Classroom management

Before going to a school, I didnt know much about classroom management, but now,
with the help of my guide teacher, I have learned several strategies to keep students
quiet, to caught students attention and to organize sitting arrangement in order to
make the learning process better for everyone.
