Man Industries offers Longitudinal
Submerged Arc Welded (SAW) Line
Pipes to meet the growing global
Technology from CHR Haeusler AG, demand of high pressure cross-country
Switzerland

Quality has been the prime concern for the company for any of the
product it manufactures . To ensure that the products are of utmost
quality, Man Industries has roped in the world 's most advanced
technology in this highly specialized and high priority field. The
latest, Pre stressed three Roll Bending process from Haeusler is
being used to manufacture Line Pipes of improved strength and
toughness . In addition , the collaborators have given a performance
guarantee for the plant in terms of production parameters and
adherence to all international standards of quality including API and
NACE.
LONGITUDINAL SAW PIPES

Manufacturing Process
Hot rolled plates with mill test certificates are received, inspected,
Ultrasonically tested and sorted at the receiving bay. The plate is
then milled to precise width and beveled forwelding.
The In-feed conveyor transports the plate to CNC and PLC
controlled 3 Roll Bending Machine for rolling. Post bending is carried
out to make the required edge profile of the pipe and then the pipe
moves on conveyor for continuous welding. Longitudinal seam of
pipe is tacked and welded using Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
method. The pipe is then transported to the Internal SA Welding area
by conveyors.
The inner longitudinal seam is welded by using 3 wire SAW method
followed by external welding on the outer seam of the pipe. The Line
pipe is later transferred for washing to remove the scales after which
the pipe is passed through a real time radiography for flaw detection
in the weld.
The pipe is then delivered to Expander unit for cold expansion after
which the ends are bevelled by the end facing machine. This is
followed by Hydrostatic Testing and later Ultrasonic Testing,
Radiography, MPI as well as visual and dimensional inspections.
Painting and Stenciling is then carried out as per specifications.

SPIRAL/HELICAL SAW PIPES

State-of-the-Art Facilities:

To manufacture high quality Spiral Welded Steel Pipes, the

company has availed of the latest and the most advanced state-
of -the-art technology. The plant located at Anjar has two production
lines for manufacturing HSAW Line Pipes and both of them are
independently equipped with the latest equipment and auxiliaries to
meet critical specifications of the customers of varied segments.

Manufacturing Process
Hot rolled coils are the main raw material for the production of
welded Spiral Pipes. The coil is first inspected for lamination, slivers
or other surface defects. It is then mounted on the Decoiler and is oU/petrochem
fed through a series of rollers of Leveler followed by milling of both
the edges.
The beveled coil is fed by drive rollers to the Forming Cage where
the pipe is formed and then followed immediately by inside and
outside welding operations (using 2 tandem wires each). The pipe
is then cut to required length and transferred to the End Facing
Machine for providing required bevel to the pipe ends. The finished
pipe is then subjected to destructive and non-destructive testing as
per relevant specifications

collected by an efficient dust collector.
The blast cleaned pipe is transferred to another rotator by means of
hydraulic ejecting and receiving arms. The boom carrying the
rotary spray head is inserted inside the pipe , which sprays the
epoxy mixture uniformly on the pipe inside surface from one end to
other end . The travel speed of the boom and the flow of epoxy
mixture is adjusted to meet the required thickness of the epoxy
layer as per spec ification . The coating can be performed in single
or double layers depending on the thickness of coating.
The coated pipe is then rolled over the padded skid to the curing
chamber and finally to stenciling and storage /dispatch section.

INTERNAL CEMENT MORTAR COATING

Specifications
Pipe Diameter: 16" to 84"
Plant Capacity: 200,000 sq. m. (at 25 mm thickness) Per annum

Process

The pipe is put on the rotators and a calculated quantity of premixed

cement is put in the pipe. The pipe is then rotated at the required rpm
and the cement mortar mixture thus centrifugally sets on the inside
surface of pipe. To enhance the fife of pipe, it is cured as per
standard procedures.
