Dolwin Beta - Aibels first wind platform
Awarded contract from ABB in August 2011 to
design and build Dolwin 2
Platform is to be placed at Dolwin wind farm
cluster near Helgoland, in the German sector
of the North Sea
It will receive alternating current from wind
farms, and convert it into direct current before
sending it onshore via subsea cables
The platform can receive electricity from more
than 200 offshore wind turbines
It will be the size of a football pitch and have
accommodation onboard for 24 people
