Recruitment Manager
Secourse Islamique France
May I welcome you to please review my credentials pertaining to a 38.5 year career in
international development that started at the bottom of the ladder as a field man and reached to
the highest level of the country management structure marking the infinitely challenging journey
with promotions at every 12-18 months. My 24+ years experiences in the position of Country
Representative/Director with 8 well-regarded organizations in 12 countries allowed me to learn
the intricacies of country program management inside-out.
A strong and healthy balance of my experiences and skills both in humanitarian and
development settings encompassing program management and program support functions
provide me with unique advantage of managing large scale, fast moving projects with highest
level of effectiveness and efficiency.
Throughout my career spanning 38.5 years, I have continually challenged myself and
undertaken assignments those all my peers have avoided considering them too risky. Thereby I
have developed a niche of successfully implementing large budget, widespread, high-speed
project interventions based on innovative ideas often under precarious conditions. Following are
a few examples:
Currently, I am managing approximately 15 million USD program portfolio of an
emergency medical organization through 13 field offices located in remote and insecure
places of South Sudan.
While working for Oxfam GB in 2012, I have managed a consortium of 6 international
NGOs for delivering 12,000+ flood resistant shelters in South-Western Bangladesh using
10m GBP in 12 months.
During my time with CARE - Bangladesh, I alone have covered one-half of the areas of a
nationwide, ground-breaking CIDA funded rural road maintenance program that
employed destitute women. Later on, I have piloted a non-traditional income generating
project for these destitute women utilizing the capital accumulated in their force-saving
accounts.
I am used to managing complex programs funded by multiple donors requiring stringent
accountability and multiple-currency reporting systems. The current program that I am
managing for International Medical Corps in South Sudan is funded by more than a dozen
entities of various types.
Sincerely yours,
GS Azam
