a.VisitingProfessor:
1. A Visiting Professor should be an eminent scholar in his/her field. Generally a
person who has held or is holding the post of Professor or a person who has
achieved distinction outside the university sector, should be considered for
appointmentasVisitingProfessor.
2.ThemaximumtenureofappointmentofaVisitingProfessoristwoyearsandthe
minimum not less than three months. The university may appoint a personup to
theageof70yearsasaVisitingProfessor.
3.AProfessorshouldnotbeappointedasaVisitingProfessorinthesameuniversity
inwhichhe/sheholdsapostimmediatelybeforeoraftersuperannuation.
4. If a superannuated person is appointed as a visiting professor, the honorarium
payableshouldnotexceedRs.15,000/p.m.excludinganysuperannuationbenefits.
5.ApersonappointedasVisitingProfessorfromoutsidethecountrymaybepaidan
honorariumofuptoRs.20,000/p.m.
6.IncaseapersonservinginanIndianUniversityisappointedasvisitingprofessor,
thehonorariumpayableshouldbedeterminedonthebasisofsalaryplus10%ofthe
basicpayplusdearnessallowance,andotherallowances,ifanyadmissible(except
conveyanceallowance,ifany)aspertheratesoftheparentuniversity.Thereceiving
university would also contribute towards pensionary benefits or CPF/GPF as per
usualrules.
7.It isexpectedthatwhenaservingpersonisappointedasVisitingProfessor,the
parentuniversitywouldgivehim/herdutyleavewithoutpay.
8.IfapersonworkingabroadonapermanentbasisisinvitedasaVisitingProfessor,
theuniversitymaymeetthecostofinternationalairtravelfromitsownresources.
Visiting Professors appointed may be paid travel expenses within India in
accordancewiththerulesoftheuniversity.
9. Guest House accommodation is expected to be provided free of charge by the
hostuniversity,butfoodchargeswouldbepaidforbytheVisitingProfessor.

b.VisitingFellow:
1. A Visiting Fellow should be a scholar of eminence in his/her subject.
Superannuated persons up to the age of 70 years may also be considered for
appointmentasVisitingFellow.TheminimumtenureofaVisitingFellowshouldnot
belessthanaweekandmaximumuptothreemonths.
2.TheVisitingFellowmaybepaiddailyallowancenotexceedingRs.600/perday
forvisitsuptoonemonth.Forvisitsbeyondonemonth,theratemaybeasinthe
caseofVisitingProfessor.
3.Travelexpensesmaybemetinaccordancewiththerulesoftheuniversity.
4.Itisexpectedthattheparentinstitutionwillgrantacademicleavewithpayand
usualallowanceforthedurationoftheappointmentasVisitingFellow.
5.ThehostUniversitywouldprovideaccommodationtotheVisitingFellowinthe
UniversityGuestHousefreeofcharge,butfoodchargeswouldbepaidbythe
VisitingFellow.
6.ThesamepersonmaynotbeinvitedasVisitingFellowmorethanonceinayear
inthesameUniversity,buttheperiodof3monthscanbespiltupasdesiredbythe
Universitywithintheperiodofoneyear.
