MUSICAL EVENTS

EVENT: ACOUSTIC SONG WRITING COMPETITION (OPM)

Content Rules and Mechanics:


1. The contestant must be a student officially representing the program.
2. The song entry must be a love song.
3. The lyrics of the song must be in Filipino composition.
4. The group must have five (5) as the maximum number of the participants in this category.
5. All entries must be submitted with three (3) typewritten copies of the lyrics to the INTRAMURAL Musical
Committee; otherwise three (3) points will be deducted from the total points of the contestant.
6. The song must be within three (3) to five (5) minutes. There will be a one (1) point deduction from the average
points for every one (1) minute under time or overtime.
7. Introductions and explanations, which are not part of the song, are not allowed.
8. The song must be interpreted by one vocalist only.
9. An entry must not have entered the finals of any song competition (including Metro Pop Song Festival).
10. An entry must not have been commercially published, recorded or released and distributed in the Philippines or
abroad.
11. All contestant must be at the venue one (1) hour before the contest proper. Late entries will be disqualified from
the competition.
12. Drawing of lots must be done 30 minutes before the contest proper.
13. Judging shall be made through Ranking System.
14. In case of a tie, the Board of Judges shall convene and break the tied through point system.
15. The Chairperson of the board of judges or Emcee shall proclaim or announce the winner.
16. The decision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable.

EVENT: CHOIR COMPETITION


Contest Rules and Mechanics:
1. The contestants must be students officially representing the program.
2. The group must have fifteen (15) as the maximum and ten (10) as the minimum number of participants
in this category.
3. Song requirements:
A free-choice piece. This piece will be sung first.
An official contest piece, carefully selected by the committee.
4. A minus-one CD may accompany the choir with no back-up singers included. The use of multiplex is not
allowed.
5. Each group is allotted a minimum of eight (8) minutes and a maximum of ten (10) minutes to perform
inclusive of the entrance and exits. There will be a one (1) point deduction from the average points for
every one (1) minute under time or overtime.
6. All songs must be performed from memory.
7. In order to minimize the expenses, participants may wear costumes during the competition but the use
of props is strictly prohibited.
8. Pyro-technique, firecrackers and confetti are not allowed during the presentation.
9. All contestants must be at the venue one hour before the contest proper. Late entries will be disqualified
from the competition.

11. Judging shall be made through Ranking System.

EVENT: JINGLE WRITING COMPETITION


Contest Rules and Mechanics:
1. The constant must be a student officially representing the program.
2. The competition is open to individual or group with a maximum of five (5) members and whose composition are
students coming from the same school. Regular or professional jingle composers or those paid for their services
are not allowed in the competition.
3. The jingle entry may be written in a popular or new song genre, or a fusion thereof, in any form or structure with
theme that revolve around UIC Intramural (institutions information including its Vision, Mission, Goals and
Objectives).
4. The entry must not exceed five (5) minutes and must have a minimum of two (2) minutes. There will be a one (1)
point deduction from the average points for every one (1) minute under time or overtime.
5. The lyrics can be written in English or Filipino (local language) or a combination.
6. The entry must be entirely original, and should not infringe on any existing copyright or any other intellectual
property rights.
7. The entry must be submitted with three (3) typewritten copies of the lyrics to the INTRAMURAL Musical
Committee; otherwise three (3) points will be deducted from the total points of the contestant.
8. Introductions and explanations, which are not part of the jingle, are not allowed.
9. The jingle can be performed on stage by the composers or any assigned interpreters.
10. An entry must not have entered the finals of any jingle writing competition.
11. An entry must not have been commercially published, recorded or released and distributed in the Philippines or
abroad.
12. All contestants must be at the venue one hour before the contest proper. Late entries will be disqualified from
the competition.
13. Drawing of lots must be done 30 minutes before the contest proper.
