temple, Kerta Gosa, and Goa Lawah. All of the tourist attractions are located in
Klungkung regency and Karangasem regency, both are 9 regencies we have in Bali.
Now we are going to the first object that is Kerta Gosa. You can see on your right side
there is directorat of udayana university. Udayana university is one of favorite
university in Bali. There are so many faculty here such as : Faculty of teacher training
and education, faculty of literature, faculty of law, faculty of engineering, faculty of
agriculture, faculty of animal husbandry, faculty of arts, faculty of mathematics and
natural sciences, faculty of veterinary medicine, faculty of economics, and faculty of
medical. A long time ago all of the university was located in Denpasar city but now
most of the faculties moved here and the rest still in Denpasar.
Ladies and gentleman, as you know Bali famous for its culture that has close
relationship with their religion, Hindu. The Balinese people have a philoshopy called
Tri Hita Karana, Tri means Three, Hita means Happiness, and Karana means Cause,
so if we arranged that three words together it means the three causes of happiness.
They live in harmony with God, Human, and Environment. They also believe that
everything that exists in this world as a duality called Rwa Bhineda, the postif and
negatif one, they believe that Human take the responsibility to keep that two in
balance.
Now, we are turn left and entering the one of the highway in Bali called
Bypass Ngurah Rai street. If we turn right we wil arrive in Nusa Dua area. There are
so many tourist attractions such as Nusa Dua beach, Tanjung Benoa water sport and
many others. There is also called
Ladies and gentleman, we are still in Badung Regency, one of the eight regencies and
one city in Bali. badung regency is famous for its beaches. There are so many beach
here, such as Muaya beach which located in Kedonganan which has a beautiful sunset
scenery, Pandawa beach which located in Kutuh village, south kuta, it called pandawa
because in there we can see the statue of Panca Pandawa brothers who were populer in
Mahabhrata story. Next, there are Kuta beach and Nusa Dua beach which very populer
among the tourist and many more beaches that has its own characteristics.
Ladies and gentleman, as you know Bali is very populer in the world. Bali has
so many tourist attraction. There are three kind of tourist attraction that we know.
Natural, Cultural and the combination between that two. Bali has it all, from the
Natural until the combination of those two. Bali is a perfect place to visit beacuse you
can see the Natural resources combine with the unique cultural of Bali. There are so
many ritual ceremonies, festivals, and arts that Bali had.
Ladies and gentleman, now we are going to pass the Dewa Ruci statue, this
statue told us the story when Bhima, one of the Panca Pandawa brothers in
Mahabharata story looked for the life holy water that told by his teacher, Rsi Drona.
He told Bhima to search it on the ocean, in there Bhima found a dragon who wanted to
kill him by coil around his body but after he embeded his nail on the dragon body and
killed back the dragon, after the dragon dead, the ocean was happy and suddenly a
very small man who look like Bhima named Dewa Ruci came. He told Bhima to get in
to his ear, Bhima thought that was imposibble but he still tried to do that and succesed
to get in. Inside the Dewa Ruci body, Bhima was told by Dewa Ruci that the life holy
water was a lie and all the things that he done because of the teacher order was
nothing. And he wont learn anything from this trip, because Bhima already capable in
those knowledge and theres nothing he would searched for, because the key to do
something is we must done it seriously from our heart.
Ladies and gentleme a few later we going to pass sesetan village. Sesetan
village famous for Omed-omedan tradition. The tradition originate from a fight
between a male and female pig that took place in the village hundreds of years ago. A
represent the push and pull of positive and negative elements. Omed-omedan, which
means pulling, is a ceremony for the youths of the village to express their joy on the
first day of the new year. Males and females stood side by side of the village main
road while waiting the signal of Hindu leader then both sides approached the center of
the road. Male participants pulled and kissed the female participants while other
villagers poured buckets of water towards them. This ritual had been around for at
least 100 years and could only be participated in by the people of Banjar Kaja Sesetan
village, and it is not clear when mass kissing was incorporated into the Bali tradition.
Actually, this tradition is one of a great way to find a boyfriend or girlfriend. Many
couples are succeed to enter their marriage by joining this tradition, said a participant
in the ceremony. The pecalang opened with a prayer while traditional village guards
secured the area.
Ladies and gentlemen a few minutes later we going to Sanur. Sanur is one of
Bali's biggest traditional villages but it's also one of the most established tourist areas.
Sanur was Bali's first beach resort but still retains its Balinese character and old style
village ambiance. On the southeastern side of Bali, Sanur beach is easily reachable
from Denpasar, about a 5 to 10 minute drive. Sanur is an excellent site to watch the
sun rises, as we jog along the white sandy beach. Being one of the first resorts
developed in Bali, Sanur maintains its traditions. Only a stone thrown away from the
beach, ancient temples stand as solemn as they have been in centuries past.

Palm-lined beach, facing the Indian Ocean towards the east, Sanur is an
excellent place to see the sun rise in the morning. "Bali is the morning of the world", it
is the right sentence for Bali if we has visited Sanur. Offshore reefs protect the beach
against the waves, and make it popular for windsurfing, boating, and other water
sports. It is one of the first areas where one can find good hotels, restaurants, shops,
and other tourist facilities. It's also the place for some of Bali chic fashion shops, hot
hotels and well-known restaurants. It is a good location to explore the rest of Bali.
Fine hotels, restaurants and modern entertainment venues complement traditional
village activities like drama and dance, so it's a good place to enjoy the delights of a
tropical island and gain a real appreciation of Balinese culture and local life. Gradual
and early development has meant that Sanur has grown alongside the village, with
hotels located right next door to local meeting halls and Brahmanic temples. Many
hotels have expansive gardens that face the ocean in a picturesque unbroken seaside
promenade.
Ladies and gentlemen a few minutes later we going to pass Padang Galak.
Padang Galak is famous for kite festival on july august. The Bali Kite Festival is an
annual international kite festival held in July in Padang Galak area, Sanur Beach, Bali.
Traditional giant kites (4 metres in width and almost 10 metres in length) are made
and flown competitively by teams from the villages (banjar) of Denpasar. The event is
a seasonal religious festival intended to send a message to the Hindu gods to create
abundant crops and harvests. The teams consist of about 70 to 80 people, each team
with its own Gamelon band, flag bearers and flyers. Bebean (fish-shaped), Janggan
(bird-shaped) and Pecukan (leaf-shaped) are three traditional kites flown during this
kite festival. The kites are flown by teams of 10 or more adult kitefliers. The Bebean is
the largest kite, and looks like a broad-mouthed, split-tailed fish. The Janggan form
has a broad flowing cloth tail that can reach more than 100 metres in length. The
Pecukan requires the most skill to fly, as its unstable form often tumbles towards the
ground. Red, white and black are traditional colours used in the kite's designs. Each
type of traditional kite has its own competition, with heats of 10 teams vying for the
best launch and longest flight. Sometimes the kites come down over the adjacent rice
paddies, and the team members have to dash through the paddy to rescue the kite
before it lands in the water. A competition is also held for 'New Creation' (kreasi baru)
kites which may include detailed three-dimensional figures representing the Hindu
Gods or sponsorship kites. Traditional and new creation kites are constructed from
bamboo and cotton cloth. In the dry season of June through August, the winds blow
continually from east to west in most of Indonesia. Balinese children and adults fly
kites in the vacant rice paddies during this period. A gamelan orchestra plays music
throughout the festival. The festival attracts many tourists and international kitefliers,
along with many local spectators.

Ladies and gentlemen a few minutes later we going to Titi Banda statue. Can
you see it ? look at over there. Titi Banda Statue was created inspired by the story of
wayang Ramayana. Titi statue Banda Sri Rama tells leaders who build bridges Titi
Banda in the middle of the sea with the troops Wanara (ape) who will pick up his
wives, Dewi Shinta, who became a prisoner of the king of Lanka Ravana in the
country. With a passion for truth and cooperativeness the monkey army led by Sri
Rama finally bridge titi Banda completed.

In the area of this statue, there is Prince Rama stands proudly overlooking the
east accompanied by troops of monkeys who were 18 soldiers, five of whom is the
commander of the monkey Sugriva, Nala, Anoman, and Anggada. Making sculpture
Titi Banda interpret philosophy as a leadership trait Rama who always puts the welfare
of its people and to defend the truth, the spirit of mutual cooperation which is owned
by the troops of monkeys that were able to build a bridge even if it means crossing the
ocean, as well as the love of Rama and Sita.
Ladies and gentlemen, a few minutes later we going to pass lebih beach, can
you see it ? Lebih Beach, situated in Lebih village, about 9 km south of Gianyar city
must be the best-known beach in Gianyar. It has good waves for surfing and an
abundance of tasty seafood served along the shore. Visitors can also enjoy the row of
thousands of traditional boats moored along the beach, the scene being especially
attractive in the morning. The row of the unique boats on the black sands is very
beautiful when seen from a distance.
And also gianyar famous for their food like Babi Guling and Bebek Betutu. Babi
Guling or suckling pig made from pork belly child filled with herbs and vegetables,
such as cassava leaves, then baked while playing around (overthrow-roll) until cooked.
Originally pork roll used for grain or religious ceremonies. But now suckling pig can
be found easily in a variety of restaurants, cafes, and hotels in Bali. And Betutu is a
Balinese dish of steamed or roasted chicken or duck in rich bumbu betutu (betutu spice
mix). This highly seasoned and spiced dish is a popular dish in Bali and Lombok,
Indonesia. An even spicier version is available using extra-spicy sauce made from
uncooked (raw) onion slices mixed with red chili peppers and coconut oil.
Ladies and gentlemen now we are going to Besakih temple its take about an
hour from Kerta Gosa. Besakih temple is located in Karangasem regency. It covers the
east part of Bali, has an area of 839.54 km2 and a population of 369,320 (2002). Its

has many tourist attraction is dominated by the grand Mount Agung. It has many
places of interest and great beaches such as Besakih temple, Candi Dasa, Tirta

and the others. Besakih temple is one of the biggest temple in Bali. Hindus people in
Bali come to this temple to praying, not only the temple is biggest but also this temple
has beautiful scenery and architecture that make you like it. Besakih temple is one of
Sad Kahyangan Temple in bali. Sad Kahyangan Jagad or the "six sanctuaries of the
world" are the six holiest places of worship on Bali. According to Balinese beliefs,
they are the pivotal points of the island, and are meant to provide spiritual balance to
Bali. The number of these most sacred sanctuaries always adds up six, but depending
on the region, the specific temples that are listed may vary. A list of the Sad
Kahyangan may include: Besakih Temple in karangasem regency, Lempuyang temple
in karangasem regency, Goa lawah temple in klungkung regency,Uluwatu temple in
badung regency, batukaru temple in tabanan regency, and Pusering Jagat temple in
Gianyar regency.

Ladies and gentlemen karangasem also has typical traditional food like Sate
lilit and Nasi Sela. Sate Lilit or Sate Languan is food such as satay which is not always
the meat sliced or cut into pieces and stabbed before being burned. Food is also a
typical meal Karangasem regency. The basic ingredients of this sate is sized amount of
marine fish such as tuna. The fish meat is softened and flavored, coconut milk and
grated coconut. When seasoning has been fused with fish, satay began to be formed by
a fist elongated fish meat on skewers. Satay burned and ready to be enjoyed with a
plate tupat, a bowl of fish soup, and plecing. It feels a little spicy and distinctive aroma
when burned. satay is batter spices consisting of turmeric, kencur, nutmeg, brown
sugar, lemongrass, and coconut oil. Done stirred, nicest fish meat seasoning hushed up

mixture of white rice and chopped tuber into small pieces. in the 1970s and became

Tuak or Palm wine is made from jaka (palm tree), nyuh (coconut) and ental
(ejection). From there then arises the term jake palm wine, palm wine and wine ental
nyuh. Palm wine-wine is made in the trees near the source of the lead. Palm wine fresh
off the tree will taste sweet it to make it taste delicious wine mixed with a special
ingredient that is lau. Lau is processed from kutat sawdust and bark powder mixed
with tabia bun (chilli vines Balinese chilli). Tuak different with wine in general
because not long-lived wine. If ignored long then this would be the wine vinegar. Thus
the people in Karangasem Bali prefer wine fresh off the tree.
Karangasem is the largest wine producer in Bali. Almost in every village can be found
residents who work as wine makers and sellers of wine even in almost every shop can
be found people who just chat with friends while enjoying wine. Tuak of Karangasem
is also sold in areas outside Karangasem.
Sekehe-Sekehe metuakan or groups metuakan will be easily found in Karangasem
district consisting of 3-5 people. This group is usually split between the group of
parents with young children, because sometimes a topic of conversation between the
young and the elderly are not the same.

Ladies and gentlemen I would like to tell you about history of karangasem.
The state of Karangasem, on the island of Bali, was in existence by the middle of the
seventeenth century century. The dynasty claims descent from the last Mahapajit
Governor of Bali at the time of the collapse of that Empire. The state became powerful
during the late seventeenth century, conquering the neighbouring Lombok and
establishing several principalities on that island. During the last years of the next
century, Gusti Gede Ngurah Karangasem [Devata Tohpati], extended control over
Buleleng.

The state was conquered by the Raja of Mataram, a collateral relative in 1839.
The next ruler, Gusti Ged Ngurah Made Karangasem, accepted Dutch sovereignty over
his realm in 1841, but later repudiated this, along with the other Balinese Rajas.
Karangasem and Buleleng suffered completed defeat at Dutch hands during the Lombok
War in 1849. The Dutch then annexed the state to the Ratu Agung of Salaparang, their
ally. He appointed two of his nephews as successive Regents of Karangasem. After the
defeat and extinction of Salaparang in 1893, the Dutch re-established the Karangasem
principality under the ruler of the late Regent's family. However, full self-rule did not
follow until 1938. The principality acceded to the Indonesian Republic in 1950, but the
Raja continued to reign as nominal Raja until his death in 1991. His younger brother
succeeded him as Head of the Royal House, but his installation, according to traditional
custom, did not follow. Ladies and gentlemen now we are arrived in parking area
Besakih temple, please board off the bus . Mind your head and watch your step.

C. In the Besakih Temple

menstruation not allowed to enter the object, and everyone who want to enter the object
must wear Balinese cloth or sarong. But dont worry about it, because you can rent the
sarong over there. Please come along with me
Besakih Temple is the biggest Hindu temple in Bali which the local people call Pura
Besakih. It owns beautiful view from the top of temple area where we can see the wide
nature panorama until to the ocean so that way this temple is many visited by tourists
from all over the world. Besakih Temple is located in Besakih countryside, Rendang
sub district, Karangasem regency, east part of the island. It is located in southwest side
bevel of mount Agung, the biggest mounts in Bali. It is because pursuant to Agung
Mount confidence is holiest and highest mount in Bali Island. To the Balinese a visit to
the temple sanctuaries at Besakih temple is a special pilgrimage. Each temple has its
own odalan, or anniversary celebration, and on the full moon of the Balinese month
Kedasa the entire compound of Besakih celebrates the visit of the gods, with an
enormous throng of visiting pilgrims.
The Besakih's name is come from the word of Basuki, the old language from Sanskrit
Wasuki, and then it become the Ancient Java Language. In this Sanskrit, the Basuki
means congratulation. In mythology of Samudramanthana has mentioned that Basuki is
a dragon that twines the Mount Mandara. The omission has come from tradition
megalithic which had been indicated that it had to be sanctified place. It seems, the
Besakih temple is coming from very old era which is far before the existence of
Hinduism influence. Hereinafter, an Ancient Bali king of Sri Kesari Warmadewa found
the Merajan Selonding Temple in this temple complex area. He also commands to build
the Blanjong Monument that is located in Sanur Village. The Besakih Temple complex
is built pursuant to cosmos balance. It is based on the nature conception which is
disseminating the fundamental temple complex that is arranged to pursuant of the way
direction. So, this building can deputize nature as symbolic of the world balance
existence.
As we familiarize, that the point direction way like East, South, West, North, and
middle as center point and each direction is named by Mandala. In Hindu philosophy,
Panca Dewata is manifestation of Siwa God. Like Penataran Agung Temple as center,
we find in its courtyard conception show the solidarity conception between the original
Indonesia culture namely tradition megalithic in form of Punden Berundak-undak with
the Hinduism concept. The ancient omissions which is existing in Besakih Temple
complex can be classified into 2 types those are omission pertained by megalithic
tradition and classic era. Besakih Temple beside as the altar for Hindu people in Bali, it
is also as tourist destination which is a lot of visited by tourists.
Besakih Temple, known as Balis Mother Temple for over 1,000 years, sits 1,000
metres high on the southwestern slopes of Mount Agung. Besakih is an artistic and
unique complex that comprises at least 86 temples which include the main Pura
Penataran Agung (the Great Temple of State) and 18 other. Besakih is the biggest and
holiest of the island's temples and is surrounded by breathtaking and scenic rice paddies,
hills, mountains, streams, and more.
To the Balinese, visiting the temple sanctuaries is a special pilgrimage. Mount Agungs
high location gives it an almost mystical quality. Many stairs lead up to the sacred
mountain, leading to the many temples that vary according to types, status, and
functions.
Pura Besakih features three temples dedicated to the Hindu trinity. Pura Penataran
Agung in the centre has white banners for Shiva, the destroyer; Pura Kiduling Kreteg on
the right side is with red banners for Brahma, the creator; and Pura Batu Madeg
represents Vishnu, the preserver, with its black banners. You can visit other temples in
Pura Besakih, but many of their inner courtyards are closed to the public as theyre
reserved for pilgrims. Pura Besakih is the only temple open to every devotee from any
caste groups. This is because of its nature as the primal centre of all ceremonial
activities.
History Besakih Temple
When the island of Bali and the island of Java has not been separated by a strait (Segara
Rupek / Strait of Bali). Where people are still smoking Air immigration is only a short
walk from the island of Java to the island of Bali. During that time also, in the area of
Bali (Besakih temple where present) are still only a dense jungle inhabited by wild
animals that kill.
There is a sage who came from India which has many followers on Mount Rawang
(now Mount roar), East Java. He is Markandeya who by his followers who lived at the
foot of the mountain are called Batara Giri Rawang Rawang. Markandeya has done a lot
of the Hermitage in many places on the island of Java, when he was imprisoned in
Mount Hyang (Which is now known as the Diyeng mountain , Central Java) he received
a revelation (Enlightenment of God) that he and his followers merabas forest in the
island Dawa and handing territory to his followers.
It is implemented by Markandeya, he brought 8,000 followers ready to merabas extent
dikala the wilderness. When the group arrived at an area which is considered good, then
start the group merabas forest and leveling the area that will be their home.
But during the past forests, bad things happen to the group. They get disaster are
manifold ranging from accidents at work, killed the forest wild animals to disease
resulting in death. Seeing these oddities, finally Markandeya rushes to stop activities in
the forest and invites his followers to return to Mount Rawang.
In the Rawang mount, Markandeya back doing yoga to get a hint of what was
experienced by his followers. Finally, on the right day (Adults Ayu) Markandeya Dawa
back to the island but now with 4,000 followers on the foot of the mountain mire. They
carry farm tools and seeds of plants that will be planted in their new territory.
Arriving at the destination, Markandeya and his followers do yoga and offered yadnya
(hindu holy ceremony) namely Dewa Yadnya and Butha Yadnya. Then after doing
yadnya, he commanded his followers to return merabah forest that will be the place they
live.
Once the area is enough for them to live and farm, the yogi Markandeya finally stop
encroachment. His followers also no one was injured much less died affected. Then
Markandeya handing territory to his followers to be a settlement and paddy fields.
On the ground anyway, Markandeya plant Kendi (Payuk) of water coupled with Panca
Datu (five metals), namely gold, silver, copper, iron and bronze with ruby gem adi
(Main Gem). Planting was done accompanied by upakara (offerings) and ends with tirta
pengentas (Holy Water).
In the place where planting five Datu and ruby gems adi planted, named Wasuki
(basuki) which means congratulations. Due to the encroachment second, there is no
obstacle that makes the followers Markandeya injured. The place is also established
shrines lambatlaun place was later established temple or celestial named Basukian. Pura
is then grown and other ostensibly established which eventually became the temple
complex and soon pronounced Besakih. Construction of temples in Besakih done
gradually, as well as with the treatment. When there is a mountain erupts in Gunung
Agung, Besakih only slightly damaged, also followed by subsequent earthquakes is still
running maintenance and restoration.
So a few excerpts from the Markandeya Purana Lontar on the origin and history of the
village and the temple Besakih that still exist today.

I would like to tell you some information about Kerta Gosa. Kerta Gosa is located in
Klungkung regency. Kerta Gosa consist of two buildings (bale) there are Kerta Gosa
and Kambang building. Kambang building is surrounded by a pond that is Taman Gili
(Gili Park).
Semarapura is the capital city of klungkung regency. Klungkung is one of regencies in
Bali. Klungkung has many tourist attraction like Kerta Gosa, Goa Lawah, Nusa Penida,
Kusamba beach and the others. The history of Klungkung is Ida I Dewa Agung Jambe is
the founder of the kingdom of Klungkung in 1686 and is the successor dynasty Gelgel.
Gelgel kingdom at that time was the center of the kingdom in Bali and the golden age of
empire was created during the reign of Dalem Watu Renggong, where prosperity and
welfare of the people has been achieved. In 1650 there has been a rebellion by a Prime
Minister of the Kingdom named I Gusti Agung Maruti which caused the collapse of the
Kingdom Gelgel which at the time was ruled Dalem Dimade. Gusti Agung Maruti take
over the kingdom from the hands Dalem Dimade last king who ruled the kingdom
Gelgel. At that time Dalem Dimade fled to save themselves by Guliang village in the
territory of the Kingdom of Bangli. One son namely Ida I Dewa Agung Jambe as to
which of the above and then managed to re-take the kingdom from the clutches Gelgel I
Gusti Agung Maruti in 1686 AD. Since then Gelgel no longer a royal place. In a region
that is located slightly to the north of Gelgel, and is named after the area of Klungkung,
then that's where Ida I Dewa Agung Jambe establish Palace residence. The palace was
then called Semarapura or Semarajaya. Since the title of "tradional" no longer be used
for the kings who ruled in the kingdom of Klungkung. Title that carried it down -
generation by the king - the king of Klungkung called "Dewa Agung".
Some kings have ruled down - generations in Klungkung kingdom, and the latter is Ida I
Dewa Gede Agung Jambe (Ida I Dewa Agung Putra IV), coincidentally the same name
as the name of the king who had established the kingdom of Klungkung. Klungkung
kingdom did not last long, the empire split into small kingdoms such as the kingdom of
Badung, Gianyar, Karangasem, Buleleng, Bangli, Tabanan, Jembrana, Denpasar and
Klungkung kingdom itself.
In the reign of the last king of Klungkung Ida I Dewa Gede Agung Jambe precisely on
April 28, 1908 has been a tumultuous events in the kingdom of Klungkung. Dutch
soldiers under the command of General M. Breakfast. Rost Van Tonningen has carried
out attacks against the kingdom of Klungkung.
King Ida I Dewa Agung Jambe, accompanied by the Bahudanda (Authorities of the
Kingdom) and all the people who faithfully seek to staunch resistance against the Dutch
troops ruthless attacks, but worth - nothing. Finally Raja along with his followers all fall
in Puputan field. While in the Netherlands, although there are several dead and wounded
- wounded, but this does not mean anything - anything for the entirety of Dutch troops,
but enough to give a psychological blow against the Dutch. The incident was until now
known as "Puputan KLUNGKUNG". Since the Kingdom of Klungkung and the whole
Bali into Dutch colony. In order to restore the situation Klungkung kingdom newly
conquered that in an effort that his people were willing to offer sympathy and support to
the Government of the new kingdom, the Indian government - the Netherlands has
decided to appoint an appropriate person to become king. The figure is none other than
Ida I Dewa Gede Agung Oka Geg. Namely his coronation as the regen (Zelfbesturder
Landschap van Klungkung) was conducted in July 1929. This strategy can restore the
situation in Klungkung kingdom until the end of the Indonesian nation
memploklamirkan its independence on August 17, 1945. Zelfbestuur or also known as
self-government is a term for a region that has the right to self-government. The
autonomous status means the area led by natives as well as the right to manage the
affairs of the administrative, legal, and internal culture. Government Japanese
occupation (1942-1945) replaces the status of autonomous regions be kochi.
Furthermore, after the proclamation of independence of Indonesia, through the Law of
Emergency of the Republic of Indonesia No. 69 of 1958 dated August 9, 1958 on the
Establishment of the area-Regional Level II The Territory of Regions of Bali, West
Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara, the Regional Autonomous Klungkung
deformable be a Level II Regional Klungkung. When the implementation of Law No. 18
in 1965, then changed the name DATI II District II level regions and then refined again
with the issuance of Law No. 5 of 1974 which replaced the district name. And along
with the time travel, the district capital city of Klungkung was amended and renamed
the town Semarapura inaugurated on April 28, 1992 by the Minister of the Interior
Rudini based on Government Regulation (PP) No.18 of 1992. Furthermore, each set 28
April as the Day Puputan Klungkung and the anniversary of the city Semarapura. Today
so Semarapura also coincided with the inauguration of the Monument Puputan
Klungkung.
D. In Kerta Gosa
Well ladies and gentlemen, now we are in Kerta Gosa. Kerta Gosa was once part of a
complex of buildings Klungkung kingdom. Klungkung royal complex was built in 1686
by the first power-holders Ida I Dewa Agung Jambe. But in 1908, almost all the
buildings destroyed by the Klungkung kingdom Dutch colonial invasion. The building
is very unique and full of high art value so that this place is a unique place to visit in
Bali. This place also owns Taman Gili, a building floating or sees like floating because
it is intentionally founded in the middle of a fish pond. The decorative painting at the
roof of Kertha Gosa building is painted with the story motif. There are three buildings
of the complex remaining Klungkung kingdom and not to disintegrate when the Dutch
colonial invasion. All three buildings are among others:
Agung Medal building (the main gate to the kingdom of Klungkung).
Bale Kambang (buildings surrounded by a pond called Taman Gili).
Building / Bale Kerta Gosa.
The style of the paintings is Kamasan (wayang) and has a 2-dimensional puppet-like
appearance, as it takes its form from the wayang-kulit shadow puppets. The humid
atmosphere and lack of close attention mean these precious pieces will not be with us
for long. Originally the paintings were on canvas, but in the course of restoration work
in 1960 they were transferred to fibrous cement sheets. More restoration was done 15
years ago but the painting area again falling into disrepair as they are open to the
elements. The other bale structures have some decoration and the museum is set back
from the road, featuring early farming tools, paintings, models, kris (traditional knives)
and other items including a Barong, the lion dance costume.

Bale Kerta Gosa indirect was built in 1686 in conjunction with the construction of
Klungkung kingdom. However Kerta Gosa building was built in the late 18th century,
and located at the northeast end of the area Klungkung kingdom.
Once upon a time the function of Bale Kerta Gosa is a discussion about the situation of
security, justice and prosperity of the empire of Bali, as well as in earlier times also
functioned as a court in Bali.
The main thing that became tourist attraction park Kerta Gosa is the architecture that
characterizes Balinese architecture 17th century architectural beauty seen primarily in
Bale Kambang building, surrounded by a pool called Taman Gili. Because there is a
pool surrounded Bale Kambang, then to be able to entrance the area Bale Kambang
building, visitors will pass through the bridge of bricks.
The uniqueness of the Bale Kambang and Kerta Gosa , there in the sky roof of the
building. In the rainbow-sky roof of the building there is painting a portrait Puppet latter
case, as well as the kind of punishment that would be acceptable, if you make a mistake.
Beside that, the puppet paintings also tell the law of Karma Pahala. Causal laws of
human good and bad deeds, done during his life. As well as paintings also depict the
embodiment Puppet return humans to the world to atone for the sins of his actions
(reincarnation).

example of the unique and distinguishing features puppet paintings of Kamasan village,

Out of all the nuts available in Bali, the coconut is hands-down the best nut on the
island. Not only does it serve as a refreshing drink but it has many other practical uses!
In fact, the Balinese use coconuts a lot in their daily lives from ceremonies to serving
up an icy cool cup of coconut ice to tackle a long hot day.

The coconut (Cocos nucifera) is a widely cultivated plant in Indonesia. From one end
to the other end of Indonesia, there is never a shortage of coconut trees. In Bali,
coconut trees can found all over the place, from farms to the coast. The coconuts
ubiquity has made it an essential nut in the lives of the Balinese, where the entire
coconut tree can be used for different purposes.

Lets start with the nut. Coconuts are famous for their refreshing and nutritious water.
Coconut water is high in potassium and sugar which makes it a great drink to quench
thirst. In Bali, coconut water is often believed to have spiritually cleansing powers
therefore it is used in purification ceremonies. The young green coconut is a favorite
for making a cool drink known as es kelapa muda. Its basically the flesh of the
coconut submerged in coconut water and given some palm sugar. Sweet! The older
fruits which are yellow and brown also have their uses. Yellow coconuts are often
used in ceremonies as the water can be used for purification and a basis for holy water.
Brown coconut shells can be used for kindling while the fibers can be used to make
rope or other crafts. Coconut shells also make fun toys for children! Aside from drinks
and toys people also extract coconut oil for a lot of uses by creating it into cooking,
perfume, or massage oil.

Now, lets get onto the leaves. Coconut leaves are an integral part in Balinese religious
life as a majority of offerings are crafted with coconut leaves. Young green coconut
leaves are used for a wide variety of offerings, from the small canang to the larger
penjor; whereas old leaves can be used to construct ceremonial structures. Old coconut
leaves are also used to make baskets that men use to carry around their roosters or
chickens.

Last but not least the trunks of the coconut tree (or as the Balinese say) valuable
timber. Timber from coconut trees can be used in construction, arts and crafts, and in
many other areas.
Seeing that the coconut tree has many uses in Balinese life, its no wonder that the
Balinese just love their coconuts.

Well ladies and gentlemen we are arrive at your Hotel. Please nothing left behind in
the bus and recheck your belongings. If everything is okay You can board off the bus
please mind your head and watch your step. Thank you so much again and See you
