Standard 4.2 Safe, Healthy, Legal, and Ethical Use

Candidates model and facilitate the safe, healthy, legal, and ethical uses of digital information
and technologies. (PSC 4.2/ISTE 5b)

The attached artifact is a Copyright and Fair Use presentation in the ITEC 7445 class. This
assignment was an individual assignment that required candidates to research copyright and fair
use in terms of education and technology and then create a presentation to share the information
with other colleagues. The presentation contained components such as the law, examples,
scenarios, and resources to help teachers with this topic.

This artifact shows my mastery of 4.2 by showing my ability to Candidates model and facilitate
the safe, healthy, legal, and ethical uses of digital information and technologies. The presentation
shows teachers how to be safe with their use of digital tools and information. By properly citing
my work I am modeling how to safely share information with other people. In the presentation I
included the law which shows how to legally use digital tools and information. The teachers will
be able to take the information and apply it to their teaching and gathering of information.

From this experience I learned about the laws that exist with the exchange of digital information.
I learned that it is important to make sure that teachers and students are aware of the laws for
using and sharing digital equity. I learned that it is import to obtain current and accurate
information to provide others. I also learned that teachers and students like examples of how to
be safe on the internet and with the use of digital tools. I learned that it is the teacher's
responsibility to make sure that students are aware of digital safety. If I were to do this
experience again I would provide more examples of the wrong use of copyright.

This experience will impact the school positively by making teachers aware of copyright and fair
use. The teachers will be able to take this information and make sure that their students are aware
of this information. The students will be safer on the internet and with using digital tools.
Students will benefit by know what they should and shouldnt do on the internet and with the use
of information. The teachers will gain strategies to teach the students. The impact of this
experience can be assessed through student/teacher surveys, assessment data, and observations.
