REDEMPTION! It was a warm August night in Nashville, Tennessee, typical of most summer
nights in the area. A warm breeze moved through the air indicating a possible change in weather.
Maybe it will rain tonight, Anthony thought to himself. Anthony hopped in his car after
making a stop at Caseys General Store in Poplar Bluff before heading east to Nashville.

Since graduating medical school and completing residency at a different institution from where
he started, Anthony delighted in caring for his young cancer patients. He often discussed how
best to care for his patients, whom he referred to as his children, with his colleagues. I love my
patients, Anthony would frequently say, keenly aware not every patient in his care would make
it. This troubled Anthony. He frequently wondered, Who decides who should live and who
should die?, yet he continued to administer to his children as best as possible.

Outside of work, Anthony kept to himself. He did not go out much, but often reminisced about
his days in residency. He was accepted into a prestigious cancer residency program, but was later
terminated for interrupting another resident while she was taking one of her medical licensing
exams. Being forced out, Anthony, exasperated, would think, my career is over due to an
insignificant and unknown mistake. Later, Anthony enrolled in a third-tier cancer residency
program feeling victimized by his former boss he frequently called a clown. This feeling of
victimization would never go away.

As Anthony continued his drive to Nashville, he could feel his excitement increasing. For the last
year, Anthony took weekend trips to Nashville to document the comings and goings of Dr.
Wendell Hopkins. He knew Dr. Hopkins ordered take-out every Friday night while his wife and
son went to a movie. I am on a mission he said, to right how I was wronged. KNOCK!
KNOCK! Dr. Hopkins rushed to the door of his rural mansion to pay for his take-out. BANG! A
single gunshot rang out. Dr. Wendell Hopkins, the man who terminated Anthony from his first
residency, lay lifeless in his doorway. Anthony, face painted, stood over Dr. Hopkins body
relieved his tormentor could torment no more. Unexpectedly, Anthony heard movement from
another room. Not knowing what he would find, Anthony pursued with his gun tightly gripped in
his hand. Checking room after room to discover where the movement was coming from,
Anthony stopped in the doorway of the master bathroom. He peered into the bathroom to find

Dr. Hopkins son, Oliver, and nanny, Rosana, cowering in the corner with no possibility of
escape. He motioned Rosana to stand up and move toward him. As she did, Anthony rushed
toward her and quickly broke her femur by kicking her as hard as he could in the thigh. This
immobilized Rosana from putting weight on her broken leg and prevented her from fighting
back. Anthony gathered Oliver and tied him up to prevent any movement. One by one, Anthony
forcefully threw Oliver and his deceased father into the trunk of his car parked on the unlit side
of the house. Rosana was thrown in the back seat. Knowing there was a shallow stream just
before leaving town, Anthony stopped and dumped Dr. Hopkins body face-down in a wooded
area where the stream ran through. Anthony continued driving west.
