2:8 For by grace you have been saved

through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is
the gift of God,
9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
 1. Our Sinful State
Eph. 2:1 And you He made alive, who were dead in
trespasses and sins,
2 in which you once walked according to the course of
this world, according to the prince of the power of
the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of
disobedience,
3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves
in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the
flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children
of wrath, just as the others.
 We are dead in sin
walking according to the course of this world
walking according to the direction of the devil
fulfilling the lusts of the flesh
fulfilling the lusts of the mind
by nature the children of the devil
Jn. 8:44 "You are of your father the devil, and the desires
of your father you want to do.
 2. BUT God loves us.
Eph 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His
great love with which He loved us,
mercy - withholding of deserved punishment
 3. The three togethers
Eph 2:5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made
us alive together with Christ (by grace you have
been saved),
6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together
in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
7 that in the ages to come He might show the
exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward
us in Christ Jesus.
Together with Christ in resurrection
Together with Christ in His ascension
Together with Christ in His kingdom rule
 Grace is the unmerited favor of God

 How does He make us alive?
Through faith - or by the exercise of faith
Acts 16:31 So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus
Christ, and you will be saved,
John 6:28 Then they said to Him, "What shall we do,
that we may work the works of God?"
29 Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work
of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent."
 How does He make us alive?
Through faith
Through His Blood
Eph. 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood,
the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His
grace
1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the
light, we have fellowship with one another, and the
blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
 How does He make us alive?
Through faith
Through His Blood
Through the sealing of the Holy Spirit
Eph. 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the
word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom
also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit
of promise,
 When we exercise faith to believe on the Lord
Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit cleanses us from
our sin using the blood of Christ as the
cleansing agent all because of the grace of God.
