yourself

National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS)T Addressed: Standard

4a - Students know and use a deliberate design process for generating ideas, testing theories,
creating innovative artifacts or solving authentic problems.

What I learned: During this project I used Inspiration Software for the very first time. At the
school I currently teach at we do not use Inspiration or Kidspiration, so it was very cool to see
how it works for when I go to CCSD. It was frustrating getting to know the system for the very
first time, thats for sure. I could not figure out how to rotate an image and gave up for a few
hours. Once I came back I used the help tool on the program and was able to achieve the look
that I wanted. I also had difficulties changing the way my map looked. For instance, when I tried
to make it a tree it would get absolutely huge. It took me a little while to make it look exactly how
I wanted. In the end I think it turned out nice and I think this a great project for the first few
weeks of class for a get to know you project to be introduced to the software.

Application of Skills Learned for the Future: Like I mentioned above, this would be such an
awesome project to do with the kids in the first few weeks of school. This project is great to get
to know your students a little better and it also allows them to be introduced to the software in
case they have never used it before. This makes learning easier in the future using the
software. This obviously could be used for so many different brainstorming maps. I especially
like maps like this for character mapping and other ELA skills. Im glad we used this software for
this project so I can use it in the future with my students.
