problems or different content
2. TimeAdapt the time allotted for learning, task
completion, or testing
Allow a student to take more time to complete a task or take an exam
Allow extra time to process oral information and directions
Allow student to take breaks after completing a task
3. Level of SupportIncrease the amount of personal assistance to keep a
student on ask and prompt the use of specific skills.
Provide consistent encouragement and positive reinforcement
Assign peer buddies, tutors, or assistants
Have collaborative group work activities
4. InputAdapt the way instruction is delivered
Adjust pacing, performance standards, evaluation criteria, and
management techniques
Create a plan with the same content in a less complex format
Use different visual aids
Plan more concrete examples, hands-on activities, and cooperative group
work
5. DifficultyAdapt the skill level, problem type, or the rules on how the learner may
approach the work
Allow the use of a spelling dictionary, electronic spell checker, or calculator when necessary
Modify rules and activities
Simplify and repeat instructions
6. OutputAdapt how student can respond to instruction or assignment
Allow the student to give responses in the way that works best for him/her (orally, written,
dictating answers to a scribe, recording audio, etc.)
Provide different ways for students to demonstrate their knowledge

Utilize cooperative groups, small groups, peer partners, and tutors
