    First of all the third engineer acts as an understudy of the Second Engineer;
    maintains the Boiler and performs Cool Water Test. He must reports to the upkeep of the
    steam boiler and associated auxiliaries, refrigerating equipment and other machinery
    assigned by the Chief Engineer. He shall report to the Chief Engineer any problem observed
    in the handling of the said equipment. He also has to monitors all pump lines, provision
    reefer, emergency pump lines and ships spare and stores. Besides custodian of engine log
    book and other engineering records, but not least, manages fuel consumption.
    Moreover the mechanical part of the main generators assigned to it and the
    auxiliary generator of emergency with all its parts and associated mechanisms. Finally
    performs such other functions as may be assigned by the Second Engineer.
