Summary of:
Beyond Relevance to Literary Merit: Young Adult Literature as Literature. (Article 2)

In this article Connors talks about how Anna and he take a stand in this column called
Young Adult Literature Gaining Stature at the High School for young adult literature
they were asked to write. He thinks its time that we push acceptance as literature
with high school teachers. According to Connors when students were asked to answer,
What are the defining characteristics of Literature? they tell him they havent
considered that question before. High school literature is challenging and that brings
up a lot of questions. It is explained that the young adult novels theyve identified
shouldnt compare with the canonical literary text.
