In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah the Lord,
Cherisher and Sustainer of the Universe. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon
the noblest of the prophets, Muhammad, his household, his companions and all those
who will follow him in righteousness till the day of reckoning.
Today is a festive day, a celebration of breaking fast. On this day Allah restores joy and
happiness to His servants. The month of fasting is passed and our focus now should be
how to sustain the gains we made in the month of Ramadan for the rest of the year.
We were blessed, maybe for some few moments, in the month of Ramadan to have
glimpses of the dimensions of the meaning of life and its challenges; our abilities and
inabilities reaffirmed our commitment to Allah.
Islam is not a name that means peace. It is a way of life that teaches not only peace,
but abhors violence, corruption, wickedness, viciousness and wrongdoing. It is
therefore the responsibility of Muslims all over the world to contribute to the promotion
of essential goodness.
We have to use our wealth and education to reeducate not only Muslims all over the
world to what Islam was and can be again, but we can also respond in a positive way,
an educated and tolerant way to the thousands of inquiries about Islam. I believe that
the La Muslim Community Dawah Project is already doing that but there is more room
for improvement. Your support is needy in this direction.
Interestingly, today, 26th June is being observed as the International Day Against Drug
Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. It is our special appeal to the government to step up its
efforts in making the drug trade an unattractive venture for Ghanaians and anyone who
would want to use our territory for same. Those of us who abuse drugs must also stop.
