Lesson #2 Context Clues/ Examples:

Lesson Overview: This lesson reviews the types of context clues the students learned in their previous lesson

and gives them the opportunity to use these clues with guided support.

Step 1: Pre-Instructional Activities


10-15 minutes- give the students 5 minutes to get into their partnership and finish their online posters. Allow
each group to present their different type of context clue to the group.

Step 2: Content Presentation


10- 15 minutes- Review the different types of context clues and show examples of how to use them in a given
text.

Step 3: Learner Participation


10 -15 minutes- Put students into the four different stations and allow them to determine what the meaning of
the underlined word is.

Step 4: Assessment
10- 15 minutes- have the students write down the different types of context clues they have learned on the
context clue type worksheet.

Step 5: Follow-Through Activities


3- 4 minutes- have each student think about a set of antonyms or synonyms and come write them on the board.
They cannot write repeated words on the board.
