 Named Treasurer of the Society of Professional Journalists [GMU chapter] during my
freshman year at George Mason.
 Awarded the History Department and Rotary Club scholarships my senior year of High
School, by faculty, alumni and community members.
 Awarded the Coach’s award during my senior year playing varsity lacrosse. The award
recognizes leadership, commitment and discipline.
 I have also been asked, and accepted an invitation to be part of the FOCUS [Fellowship
of Catholic University Students] discipleship program at George Mason. As a FOCUS
student leader I organize a bible study for freshman students and assist in several campus
and community outreach initiatives.

Personal and Professional Highlights

 I spent my first semester at GMU working with the Broadside student newspaper, writing
feature articles for the weekly publication.

 As an active community participant, I volunteered at a local campaign office leading up


to the presidential primaries during my senior year of High School.
 I spent the fall, 2009 semester interning for a DC-based news website called The Daily
Caller, participating in the launch of the website which occurred on January 11, 2010. I
contributed in a number of areas including news aggregation and Op-Ed writing.

 I have experience with extended research studies having spent the entire Fall, 2009,
semester working on a, forty-five page, ethnography for my English 311: Writing
Ethnography course.

 Member of Volunteer Fairfax non-profit organization serving the greater Fairfax and DC
metro community in a variety of ways including food donations, habitat for humanity
projects, and activities with seniors and children.

Career Objectives
 I am working towards a Bachelor’s degree in English (Non-fiction Writing) with a minor
degree in Russian language. My career goal is to become an ethical and accomplished
nonfiction writer with a reputable organization.

 I am interested in several forms of literature. In addition to writing for the Broadside


campus newspaper, I have written poetry in Musings of the Soul, published in 2003 by
the International Library of Poetry. My senior year of high school I was published in the
Letter to the Editor section of Newsweek magazine on two occasions.

 I enjoy a number of different disciplines and have experimented with different forms of
media and language studies. I am currently taking Russian language and hope to study in
St. Petersburg, Russia.

Occupational Experience
 Occupational experience in retail and food services, as well as, social and
interpersonal/interviewing experience gained as a staff writer for Broadside newspaper.
