The Lady or the Tiger

This story is about a king who lived many years ago in a country where there were many
wrongdoers, so he had the idea to build a big stadium in the center of the city. But this stadium
had a very particular thing.

The stadium was not for having a good time, seeing games or dancing. The stadium was a place for
wrongdoers, for a person who did something wrong. The idea was to bring him and stand him in
the middle of the stadium in front of all people. Then, he must to choose one of two blue doors,
where behind each one there were a tiger and a lady respectively. If he opened the wrong door, he
found the tiger and killed him. If he opened the other door, he found the beautiful young woman
and had to marry her immediately in the stadium. People accepted. Every week there were a
different wrongdoer making his choice: Live or Die. In short time the number of wrongdoers in the
country got much smaller.

After that, Kings daughter fell in love with the Kings gardener and they started to meet every day.
But one day the King found them together and he got very angry, so his men took him in a dark
place. Kings daughter knew what was going to happen, her lover had to choose one of the two
blue doors, the tiger or the lady. But in the moment for choose the door, the man saw her smallest
finger move a little to the left. So, he knew had to choose the door on the left. He turned and
walked very slowly to the left-hand door.

The question is, Did she want him to die? Or did she want him to live and have another woman for
his wife? The narrator does not tell what laid behind the chosen door. Thus, the story is ended with
an open question.
