    Dear String Parent/Guardian,

    My name is Ms. Allysa Larson and I am the new Orchestra Director at Dawson-Boyd Schools. I am
    excited to meet all of the young musicians this coming week and start the school year. Here is some
    information that you may find helpful for the start of the school year.
    Elementary string lessons will start Thursday, August 31st, 2017.
    Students will have lessons twice a week. Once a week students will be pulled from general music, the
    other from PE.
    4th Grade: Lessons will be Mondays (from music) and Thursdays (from PE).
    5th Grade: Lessons will be Tuesdays (from music) and Thursdays (from PE).
    6th Grade: Lessons will be Tuesdays (from music) and Thursdays (from PE).
    The first concert for the elementary students will be December 21st, 2017 at the all school sing-along.
    Concert dress: Wear nice clothes or your Sunday best. Things to avoid when choosing attire.
    o Clothes with holes or tears
    o Shorts or short skirts
    o Flip flops or sneakers
    o Spaghetti straps
    Students will have weekly practice charts. They will need to be signed and returned the first lesson of
    the following week. Students who return all practice charts in a month on time will receive a prize!
    The best way to contact me is through email. My classroom phone has not yet been set up.
    Students will be using the cardboard insert from paper towel rolls. If you have any please send them
    with your student.
    At the bottom is an instrument rental survey. Please complete this survey and return to Ms. Larson no
    later than September 15th.
