CHESS FOR KIDS EDUCATION

Its well known by all us that play chess is a very useful tool to develop different skills in
people of any age and It always has been a game associated to logic, discipline and wit. So,
Why not to include this, in our kids education?

First, I would like to tell you a little of history of this amazing game. Chess is a classic game
of strategy, invented in India more tan 1500 years ago. Legend has it that the king of India
asked his wise men to devise a way to teach the children of the royal family to become
better thinkers and better people. Chess was the result. On the last century, chess was a
battlefield on the cold war between Russia and U.S.A. They wanted to show their
intellectually superiority through the world chess championship. Finally, The american
challlenger, Bobby Fischer, won against the current russian world champion, Boris Spassky.

A lot of countries of the european union and U.S.A. have included chess as a subject and
their experience show a great contribution on the students academic performance. They
have recognized that play chess helps to increase the focusing, visualizing , thinking ahead,
analizing, thinking abstractly, planing and weighing options. These skills can be use on
academic or personal spheres to improve the kids whole develop. Also, chess often serves
as a bridge, bringing together children of different ages, races and genders in an activity they can
all enjoy.

Lastly, I really think about chess as important tool that we have to use in our kids education to form
the futures leaders.
