"Comparative evaluation of indirect enzyme linked immunosorbent assay,
rose bengal plate test, microagglutination test, and polymerase chain reaction
for diagnosis of brucellosis in buffaloes"

Brucellosis is a highly infectious bacterial disease that mainly affects cattle, sheep, pigs and
goats. The organism causing brucellosis primarily infects the reproductive organs and thrives in
the uterus of pregnant animals, often leading to abortion late in gestation. The organism can
remain undetected for prolonged periods as there are no clinical signs until abortion occurs. To
diagnose it, there are so many ways. But from the study and reserach, we find that I-ELISA can
be routinely used for an accurate and efficient diagnosis of Brucella infection, because the
chance of nondetection are minimal. But we can use PCR in combination I-ELISA to
complement the resological diagnosis of Brucellis, especially in the inital phase when the
immune response of the animal is detectable.
