THE RYLEY TIMES

Class Notes
Wow! September is here! Happy belated Labor Day!

The students have been working hard the last two weeks of school on school expectations, scheduling, making new friends, and
reviewing the 4 Bs (Belong, Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible). Additionally, students have been practicing the Stop-Walk-Talk approach
in order to avoid schoolwide bullying. Your childs homework binder has his/her pledge against bullying to remind them of the Stop-Walk-Talk
approach.

A quick reminder, if your child has not brought all of their school supplies to school, please do so ASAP! I do not create a community pool
of supplies for the students. They only use what they bring. Some students are in need of dry erase markers. Please check-in with your child to see
if they need them, as we utilize them a lot.

Homework starts this week. Every student has a homework binder. In the binder is a homework packet with the homework agenda on
top. It outlines what students should work on every night. The review sheets are quick-just 1 per night (except for the 4 day weeks they will have an
extra sheet to fit in), as well as reading every night for 20 minutes. I do not assign homework over the weekend although it is expected students
read every day of the week! Homework is due every Friday. There are extra items in the homework binder to assist students, such as a number
grid, sight (red) words, and extra notebook paper for scratch paper (please leave in their binders). If your child needs a book to read during the
week, they may check out 2 books at their reading level from me. The books will be due along with their homework on Friday. Please sign off on
your childs homework before they turn it in on Friday morning.

Lastly, students are now tracking their attendance with a Rockies baseball. Students who miss very little school throughout the year are
rewarded by going to a springtime Rockies game with other students from Butler who have excellent attendance. Not only is that exciting for them,
but in 2nd grade a lot of learning is hands-on. When students miss a day of school, they end up missing a lot! Just a reminder that when students
leave school early, they are marked as having a tardy. Three tardies end up equaling one absent school day. Please do your best to have your child
at school and on time. Please contact me with any questions at tryley@weld8.org
