One argument in favour, the use of the technology in football to decide if a player is outside
or not or if it is a penalty or not. In the case of tennis to judge whether the ball is in or out.
In case of Basketball, the NBA uses replay vision to review last touch decisions in the final
two minutes of games, and also to determinate whether the players release the ball before
the shot clock expires in this cases helps to make the sports fairer.
Another area that has been affected by technology in sports is that it has helped to improve
the performance of players and athletes. This can be seen in the number of world records
that have been broken recently. Sports equipment has also been transformed radically
which has helped not only the elite athletes but also ordinary people who are interested in
improving their games. However some would argue that this has turned many of the
athletes into robots.
Additionally, technology has perhaps provided a better experience for spectators. All major
sporting events are now broadcast on TV or radio, which helps to see if the game is impartial
or not. The internet has also enabled sports fanatics to interact with other fans and, in
some cases, the athletes themselves.
To conclude, I feel that technology has made a positive and valuable contribution to the
world of sport. It is an union between the human effort and the scientific advances.
