A TEENAGE MODEL
Many girls dream of becoming models, but its not an easy life. Models have to get used to
(1) (work) very long hours and are under constant pressure to remain
thin, which can often lead to health problems.
Organisers of fashion shows often say that theyd prefer (2) (employ)
models aged 16 or older, so when 12-year-old Madison Gabriel was asked to participate in
Australias Gold Coast Fashion Week, many people disapproved. John Howard, who was
Australian prime minister at the time, said he would rather Madison (3)
(not take) part in the event. Ex-supermodel Janet Dickinson also told reporters that Madison was
too young (4) (cope) with the pressures of modelling. However, the
organisers of the fashion event felt that Madison was old enough (5)
(participate), so the career of the schoolgirl model began.
