My Chosen Genre: Drama

There are many conventions of the drama genre in film, these include the following:

- More serious or realistic depictions of events that would happen in real life. They do not
include aspects of fantasy.
- Heightened emotions are often portrayed and events are generally over-exaggerated.
- The protagonist is generally made so that the audience can empathise or sympathise with
them.
- The storyline follows a journey through a particularly emotional time with the protagonist, in
which they find themselves struggling with a difficult decision or event.
- The genre also often aims to challenge negative stereotypes.
