Vespers Service to
honor the liquidambar trees that
lined Sixth Street. The trees, ac-

to be taken down.
Our amazing residents got together
and created a service for the trees while
they are still among us. Residents from
all over the campus gathered for the
program. A gong prelude opened the
service followed by a chant and many
poems devoted to trees, wrote Ann
Schiff, president and CEO of Pilgrim
Place.
Inland Urban Forest Group conducted
a Windshield Survey in June 2014 and
found that nearly all the citys liq-

shooter insect to which there is no cure.

Author draws on Claremont memories for new novel

C

Doggies Press.
Mr. Rosen, 59, lived in Claremont from age six to 17,
graduating from Claremont
High in 1976. He moved around
a bit, but left for good in 1981,
living all over the west in places
like Humboldt, California, Lo-

orado to name a few. He spent
25 years playing drums, touring
and recording with rock, reggae
and jam bands, and continues to
play music on the side. He is a
1998 graduate of the Universi-

a bachelors degree in music,
and now lives in Portland, where he raised his two sons,
Avery Rosen, 31, and Michael Stock, 21.
