RECRUITMENT FOR FACULTY POSITIONS - 2017

INSTRUCTIONS / INFORMATION TO CANDIDATES

a) Faculty positions are currently available in the following teaching departments :

1. Architecture & Planning


2. Biotechnology
3. Chemical Engineering
4. Chemistry
5. Civil Engineering
6. Computer Science and Engineering
7. Electrical Engineering
8. Electronics & Communication Engineering
9. Management Studies
10. Mathematics
11. Mechanical Engineering
12. Physics

b) The essential qualification and relevant experience for various positions are given in
Annexure I. A guideline for computing the credit points is also given in the Annexure I.
Other essential requirements are as per MHRD Recruitment Rules adopted by the Board
of Governors of the Institute. Preferred areas of specializations in various departments
are given in Annexure-II. For faculty members presently employed at NIT Calicut, all
specializations are acceptable

c) Candidates applying for more than one Department are required to submit separate
application forms. Also candidates applying for more than one AGP in any department
are required to submit separate application forms.

d) Reservation as per Govt. of India norms apply. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC


(non-creamy layer) categories should attach photocopy of the certificate obtained from
Revenue Authorities not below the rank of Tahasildar or from a First Class magistrate of
the place of domicile of the candidates clearly authenticating the category to which they
belong. The PwD category candidates should attach photocopy of the certificate
obtained from Medical Board concerned including the percentage of their infirmity.
Candidates must also clearly indicate the category to which they belong in the
application form. Persons with disability having percentage above the minimum specified
by Government of India shall only be eligible for the benefit of reservation.

e) Candidates who have acquired Ph.D. degree from NITC can apply only after having at
least 3 years Post-Ph.D. experience outside NITC. However, this is not applicable to the
candidates who are already regular faculty members of NITC.

f) Besides the basic pay in the applicable pay band of the respective positions, admissible
allowances like DA, HRA, TA etc. are payable in accordance with Central Government /
Institute Rules in force from time to time. The pay scale shown in the Annexure I is as
per the existing pattern and might be changed at the time of appointment according to
revision of pay by Govt. of India.

g) Experienced and meritorious candidates may be granted higher pay on recommendation


of the Selection Committee.

h) The Institute reserves the right to offer some of the positions on Regular / Contract /
Deputation basis. The appointments on contract / deputation shall be for a maximum
period of 5 years.

i) Mere fulfillment of the required qualifications and experience, does not entitle a
candidate to be called for interview / selection. The Institute reserves the right to fill or
not to fill any of the positions.

j) The Screening committee shall shortlist the eligible and most desirable candidates to be
called for interview from amongst the applicants, based on specialization, availability of
candidates, and requirements of the departments. In doing so it shall not be bound by
the options exercised by the applicants.

k) The Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for interview to a
reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than those
prescribed in this advertisement.

l) All Degree Certificates should be from recognized Universities / Institutes.

m) Candidates presently employed should send their applications through proper channel. If
original application is routed through proper channel, a photocopy of the application
should be sent in advance before the prescribed last date. Such candidates are required
to produce No Objection Certificate at the time of interview, failing which they may not
be considered for interview.

n) Candidates will have to appear for the interview at their own cost, if called before a
Selection Committee on the date and place which will be separately notified to the
candidates.

o) Selected candidates should be prepared to join duty within the time granted.

p) The newly recruited faculty are encouraged / supported to take up R&D activities with
financial support, like seed grant, and professional development allowance as per
Institute norms.

q) No correspondence whatsoever will be entertained from candidates regarding reason for


not being called for interview / outcome of interview.

r) The candidate is responsible for the correctness of the information provided in the
application. If it is found, at a later date, that any information given in the application is
incorrect / false, the candidature / appointment is liable to be cancelled / terminated.

s) Candidates may be required to make a brief technical presentation at the time of
interview.

t) Applications not in the prescribed form will not be entertained.

Category Certificate (SC / ST / OBC Non-Creamy Layer / PwD)
Academic Records (Marks/Grade Cards and Certificates from SSLC/Matriculation
onwards upto Ph.D.)

Publication, Patents and Copyrights Details
Workshops / Conferences/ Short Term Programs Organized
Certificate of Training / Summer/ Winter Schools Attended

Fellowship / Membership of Professional Bodies
Awards and Recognitions
Testimonials
Other Relevant Certificates

A signed hard copy of the applications along with self-attested copies of certificates and
necessary enclosures should be submitted. The filled-in application in both word and

Incomplete applications and late applications are likely to be rejected.
