Research Report: Uses of ICT in Language learning

A Study on the ICT Applications and Language Learning of Children of New


Immigrants
This first study aimed to explore literacy learning and ICT adoptions among new
inmigrant children and also to analyze the students application of ICTs in Mandarin
and English learning. The researchers in charge of the study were Mei-jung Wang and
Kuo-hsin Wang. In order to obtain data, researchers designed a questionnaire for the
inmigrant students that was divided into four parts: the subjects background, subjects
basic computer literacy, their general background with applying computers in
mandarine learning and the application of computers in english learning.
This study examined the basic computer literacy of new immigrant children and their
application of information communication technology in Mandarin and English
learning.
