Lesson 2 Reflection
1. For this lesson, I had a total of four students. Two are my returning students whom I have
included in the pre-assessment and engage lessons. The other two are visiting from the
other special needs preschool (SNP) class.
2. There were three teachers present for this lesson. I was the lead teacher and two teacher
assistants.
3. Before I started the lesson, I did a quick assessment for the new two students to check for
understanding of meanings of push and pull.
4. I used Seseamestreet.org/STEM website to explain the concept of force and motion. The
students were just staring at the screen and did not seem to understand what was being
said. I stopped the video frequently and had them repeat the vocabulary and used real
objects to explain.
5. At the beginning, I felt that I am saying things beyond their understanding, and I was
starting to get frustrated because the more I talked the more I lost them.
6. I debated between moving to the next part of the lesson (extend) or go back to the
previous lesson of explore and talk more about push and pull.
7. I decided to move forward with the extend activity and give the students a chance to
show what they have learned.
8. For the grouping, I put my two students in one group with me. Each student from the
other class went with a teacher assistant. My students were higher functioning and the
other two needed more support due to cognitive and behavior weaknesses. Moreover,
they did not have previous background knowledge.
9. I finished the lesson with Jack Hartmans song Push and Pull. This was the third time
we listened to it. The students participated more by saying the repeated words push and
pull and by doing the movements in the song.
10. I think this same lesson need to be repeated one more time from the beginning to the end
to give the students a chance to fully understand the concepts and to be independent in
performing the activities (less prompting from teachers).
