From dreams to reality

We produce most of our log homes, holiday houses and various other projects
so that they are completely customised to the customers individual needs. For
example, the starting point could be one of our standard models but altered to
suit our customers requirements. We regularly work in collaboration with local
architects or our partners on the production of designs. Cooperation between
the factory and a local supplier produces the best overall solution, where the
knowledge of the local building culture is combined with our comprehensive
knowledge of modern laminated log construction.

Our customers can choose a complete kit of timber parts for their delivery. It
is more economical in both time and money, when the entire wooden parts
comes directly from our log house factory. This way it is certain that your dream

fe and all four wonderful seasons. These are the forests from
where the weather-resistant and high-quality construction
materials of Finnlamelli come from. Light-coloured and fresh
spruce as well as reddish and warm-coloured pine is a time-
less material for your new home.

 Story of Finnlamelli Oy
The unwavering belief in the superiority of laminated logs in
log construction brought together a small group of Alajrvi-
born log house and saw mill industry experts. This faith kin-
dled a desire to bring this high-quality building material to
its full potential with top-notch product development and
marketing that supports this belief. This is how Finnlamelli Oy
was created in 1995.
Part of the companys key personnel was already involved
in the development of the first industrially manufactured la-
minated logs about 30 years ago in what was, at that time,
the Perl Planing Mill in Alajrvi, Western Finland, which for
decades had already been known for its log buildings. So it
is no surprise that the manufacturing of laminated logs ori-
ginated from there. The thirty years of experience is clearly
visible in continuing product development - quality is a mat-
ter of pride to us.

 Material of the future
A healthier life
Finnlamelli log houses, constructed with care, balance the
differences of internal and external air temperatures. Wood
acts as a heat insulator and moisture regulator; therefore the
air in log houses is easy to breathe. Due to clean indoor air,
log houses are also an excellent option for people with aller-
gies. Massive log walls breathe naturally. They allow water va-
pour to move freely into and out of the wall structure. Indoor
humidity remains constant and therefore it is easy to breathe
in a log house. When relative humidity of indoor air is balan-
ced, moulds and bacteria cannot grow.

Wood has the unique ability to absorb carbon dioxide from
the atmosphere and store it during its whole lifespan. Choosing
wood as the building material of your house reduces carbon
dioxide in the air and significantly counteracts global warming.
Wood binds carbon dioxide; other materials produce it. Wood
is the most ecological building material whose durability has
been tested already during its growth in the Finnish forests in
the harsh conditions of storms, rain, drought and extreme tem-
peratures.

Decorate to suit your taste
You can modify the interior of your log house indefinitely. En-
joy the log walls treated with transparent coating, which lea-
ves a fresh glazed finish or varnish the surfaces with colours
that suit the atmosphere of your house. On some of the walls
you could also choose wallpapers or tiles. External and inter-
nal doors, windows, corners, porches and staircases easily
add a personal touch and ambience to your home. You, the

 Build from heartwood
Traditional materials meet modern production
Our wide range of logs provide a suitable option for all log
building requirements! Non-cracking, non-warping and di-
mensionally accurate laminated logs are processed into a
variety of corners and joints that allow implementation of
even the most challenging structures. Sturdy log profiling en-
sures secure joints. Short corners are ideal for urban areas,
where planning regulations stipulate a certain faade or
where a particularly modern look is required.

Raw material for laminated logs consists of selected straight
pine and spruce trees that have become dense by growing
slowly in a cool climate. Logs are split and connected in such
a way that the hardest part of the wood, the heartwood, re-
mains on the surface which means in different weather con-
ditions the laminated log remains stable and are superior to
the traditional round or planed logs. The natural settling of a
laminated log house is extremely low.
 Impressive massive logs
Massive size logs (180 - 270 260 mm) are suitable for single-
family houses and other large public buildings. Depending on
the destination countrys building regulations, they generally
do not need additional insulation. In addition to their impressi-
ve appearance, the massive log walls are complete on erec-
tion - no additional insulation is required. Massive log walls
have the same wooden structure both outside and inside
and this is what creates the unique atmosphere of authentic
log houses. Massive log results in good indoor air quality and
is an ecologically sustainable and energy-efficient building
material choice.

Alternative additional insulation

You can also choose a double structure, a smaller log dimen-
sion and additional insulation, for your house. Generally in Fin-
land, buildings are insulated with wood fibre that keeps the
wall breathing. Insulation will be installed on the inside of the
wall and finished with log panels or other desired surface ma-
terial. Additional insulation can also be implemented as an
external solution, allowing you to enjoy log surfaces inside the
house. External additional insulation can also be considered
in the context of planning regulations. Whether you build your
house in massive logs or as a log structure with additional insu-

Project construction
High requirements of large projects
Finnlamelli is competent and experienced as a supplier of va-
rious projects. Finnlamellis laminated logs have been used to
build restaurants, resort and hotel buildings, a golf centres
main building, and public buildings such as village halls or
day-care centres. Speed, quality and customer-oriented
planning service are a guarantee to successful projects.
Due to their dimensional accuracy as well as non-cracking
and non-warping characteristics, laminated logs are suitable
even for large public buildings that have very high specifica-
tion for building materials. Logs are also an excellent building
material in resort construction because of the speed. Erection
of a log frame produced in a modern log house factory is a
quick process, in which case even several buildings delivered
at the same time can be quickly completed to a weather-
proof state. Finnlamellis log frames are highly prefabrica-
ted so that they can be erected quickly and efficiently. The
erection phase saves time and money on the overall project
because many of the details have already been considered
and implemented in the factory.

planning and production, as well as project know-how that

Export activities
Export has been an important part of Finnlamellis operation
from the very beginning. Today, almost half of our production
is exported and Finnlamelli has a comprehensive distribution
network in several countries. Our main export markets include
Central Europe, Russia and Japan. We carefully study the ar-
chitecture and building culture of our export countries. Com-
munication with our factory is handled by our local import
partners who receive expert advice from the factory regar-
ding every phase of the construction. In this way our custo-
mers receive local service from our partners throughout the
construction process and they can be sure that the planning
and production of their log house is in the capable hands of
the Finnlamelli factory staff. Finnlamelli is a well-known and
respected log house manufacturer throughout the world.
