The film that we viewed this week in class was Central Station. It stars
Fernanda Montenegro who played Dora and Vinicius De Oliveira who played Josue.
After witnessing his mother die, Josue goes to Dora who writes letters at the train
station to make ends meet. Josue and his mother went earlier to write a letter with
her, however, the second time didnt go so great. Josue ran into the street chasing his
toy and his mother followed. Unfortunately her mother is run over by a truck and
dies on the spot. This event leaves Josue homeless and lost. Josue tries to get letters
written to his father using Dora. Dora was mean at first, however, she becomes
different throughout the story due to Josue. The story goes on as an adventure
where Dora and Josue look after one another until the end. At the end Dora leaves
Ill rate this film a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It was well put and pieced. It grabbed
my attention throughout the film especially in the beginning when Dora was
extremely mean. Dora even sold Josue off for a thousand dollars in the beginning
that she regretted after getting it from her friend Irene that was played by Marilla
Pera. Josue is a fighter in my opinion. Not having met his father in a long time, he
doesnt give up hope on finding him. The position he is sets himself up makes Dora
also tag along in this journey of finding his father. I feel as if the film symbolizes
having faith in other people. I say this because Doras personality changes drastically
in the film due to Josue. She went from throwing the letters she wrote out to actually
mailing them. Dora has a moment of reconciliation when she sees Josue throw the
