CourseprerequisitesMath2109or2112withagradeofCorbetter.

Grading Therewillbehomework,threequizzes,twomidtermtestsandafinalexam.The
quizzeseachcountfor4%ofthetotalgrade,testsfor20%andthefinalexamfor35%.A further
13% of the grade will come from homework assignments.Graderangesforquizzesandtestswill
beannouncedwhentheyarereturned.Approximategraderangesforthewholecoursewillbe
announcedneartheendofthesemester.
AttendanceUNOhasamandatoryattendancepolicyforall2000classes.
WebAssign The course homework and practice examples will use online access accounts at
webassign.net. Details about how to use this are on a separate handout and use the Class Key:
uno 8448 6594 to log in. You also need a separate individual code once logged in which
comes packaged together with the textbook at the UNO bookstore. (The book alone does not
include webassign).
Tutoring A free tutoring service is available in the Math Tutor Center on the ground floor of
the mathematics building.

StudentLearningOutcomesTheobjectofthecourseisforstudentstobecomeproficientin
basictechniquesforsolvingfirstandsecondorderODEs.Oncompletionofthecourse,students
shouldbeabletosolvelinearandnonlinearfirstorderdifferentialequations,secondorder
constantcoefficientequations,withandwithoutnonhomogeneousterms,CauchyEuler
equations,andbeabletoapplyLaplacetransformtechniquestoequationsandsystemsof
differentialequations.
