To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is to recommend Tasha Peterson for acceptance to the Graduate

program at Framingham State University. Tasha was enrolled in and earned an A- in the
graduate course I teach at Framingham State: ENG930 Workshop in Childrens
Literature. Tasha was a wonderful asset to the class. She was enthusiastic and engaged in
the topic and classroom discussions. Her work was thorough and insightful.
Additionally, she regularly asked complex questions and posed queries that required
intellectual stretching on the parts of both her classmates and me. In the course, which is
studied by genre, students are required to read two books per week, one on a Pre-K-
Grade 6 level and the other on a Grade 5-12 level. Tasha continually challenged herself
to read a variety of books, both classic and contemporary. As she was teaching in an
elementary school, she could have focused on picture books and those up to Grade 5;
instead, in the spirit of the course, she chose to read a number of Young Adult books,
appropriate for upper middle and high school students as well.

Her writing about literature was articulate, insightful, and enjoyable to read. She
participated fully in both small and large group discussions. She truly enjoyed talking
about the books she read for the class, readily shared them, and was inspired to read other
books suggested by her classmates in their discussions and book talks.

Tashas energy and joy in her teaching was infectious. She will be able to inspire her
students with her excitement of childrens literature. She has proven herself to be a
strong student in a graduate level classroom. I urge you to admit her to Framingham
State Universitys graduate program. She will be a terrific ambassador for the school and
will be quite successful both as a student and as an educator.
