THT or The Handmaids Tale is a novel that wrote for reflecting our society in the
past and today. This book is created by Margaret Atwood. She is the Canadian writer that
have many work and THT become one of the famous books that she has ever written.
Moreover, this book has a chance to become the movie that is created by HULU production
because of the content of this book is very interest to many people today. In THT there are
many situations that occur in the Republic of Gilead, which became the story of this book.
Republic is Gilead is the totalitarian, which mean that the government in that period use their
power to control and change the rules of the society. Furthermore, because of the government
have an absolute power, so many things in society effected. In The Handmaids tale,

dystopia. Dystopia is the opposite of utopia which can be described a society with full of
chaos. For example, people dont respect each other and are divided into social classes. In the
story, the main character named Offred has to be a servant for commander and serve them.

though to be unworthy. We can see that in The Handmaids Tale, the high classes in society
have no woman. So, offred get the oppressed from society because she is woman, while she
