Portfolio Artifact Description: Truss Bridge - Using drawing tools to create a 2-dimensional
What you learned: Drawing the Truss Bridge took me longer than expected. At first I struggled
because I was working with too many shapes. I pulled out the shapes similar to the ones in my
reference drawing to my drawing. When I attempted to align the shapes, their outlines tended to
look bolder on some areas more than others. It wasnt much of a difference, but I could tell my
lines werent symmetrical. I started over and decided to work more with lines and less with
shapes. Working with lines was still a bit of a trial and error situation, but it made a big
difference in the symmetry of my drawing. Working with lines also gave me a fundamentally
good outline to my drawing. My outline consisted of the two big diamonds on the side and three
lines which were the bottom, top, and middle lines. This outline made the rest of my shapes and

Application of Skills Learned for the Future: This project would fit perfectly into a school
curriculum. It would be a fun activity for the introduction of fundamental shapes. Students would
see how lines come together and form different shapes to form a larger object. If students were to
build 3-dimensional models instead, it would be even more beneficial. They would enhance their
spatial skills and have a better understanding of the ways lines and shapes are manipulated to
form different figures. I could see myself using this model during a math lesson plan. Many
students arent fond of math, so this would be a fun way to engage students on the subject.
Having my students draw a model of a boat would also be a creative way to cover the concepts
