well to students is more important than giving them knowledge?
Having a glimpse of the current
situation in the modern world of stepping forward increasingly, we may discover this is a complicated society that needs knowledge everywhere. Therefore, teacher is an indispensable part of modern society and a respectable occupation admitted by all social beings. In my opinion, relating well to his or her students is as important as giving them knowledge on the part of teachers.
Above all, knowledge is power, just
as Thomas Jefferson once said. In this regard, giving students some basic notions contained within all school subjects is the premise of becoming an excellent teacher. Without this process, students would never prepare themselves for examinations each semester or even the future job market. In order to help students understand what knowledges they need to master, it is important for teachers to constantly reflect the way they teach students. By doing so, students could have a good performance in the final and excel at their future careers. This is why we can often see teachers visit other schools periodically to communicate the valuable experience of making students win higher marks.
Secondly, the students who are
not completely mature need care and concern from teachers. Only through building good relationships with students can one teacher know what they think about. Last semester, I really wanted to achieve success in the examination, but I failed to win my dream grades. Facing this unsatisfactory results, it was such I had a hard time that made me surrounded by pressures from parents, students, especially my teachers. When I confused with the terrible situation, my math teacher appeared appropriately and did not criticize me at all. He encouraged me to study hard unceasingly, then asked the points where I did not still understand. From then on, it is natural for me to resolve those mental conflicts. Therefore, I would have more confidence and impetus gained from my math teachers care to devote vigorously power of the mind to learning.
Nevertheless, even though we have
ascertained the value of teachers capacity of passing knowledge, and also testified to the importance of relating well to students, there is still one point that must be especially emphasized. To illustrate, teachers must remember that criticism is a crucial part of education. They should not permit students to do bad things such as escaping homework, talking about uncorrelated topics with classes in order to keep good relationships with them. After all, sometimes criticism also can be a kind of encouragement.
To sum up, ensuring the smooth
development of education in modern society, the teachers need to enhance their abilities of giving students knowledge. On the other hand, learning how to cooperate with students is also important. Thus, there is a huge challenge for teachers that they ought to keep both standpoints listed above balanced.
